MODS PLEASE CLOSE...THANKS!!-Dave
The impulsivity that I've been dealing with for over a year now started when I got rid of my American PS2's. The American PS2 is my favorite console; the best one I've ever owned, but a year ago things were different-I didn't have a therapist, wasn't on the meds. that I'm on now, etc.
When I had the US PS2, I wrote SCEA an email telling them that it was the best console that I had ever owned-and I meant every word of it.
I don't regret buying the DC, it's a great system for import shmups, my favorite one, and I had planned on getting one when I had the US PS2.
I am waiting for $50 from someone, can't remember who at the moment, whom I sold some games to. All I'm trying to do is rectify a mistake. I love 2D games, but I love 3D games equally. And the US PS2 really was the best console I've ever owned.
Of course, I do have a birthday coming up, so if no one buys the Saturn, no biggy, I'll have a PSTwo then.
I just thought I should explain myself, and the reason for the sale. I'm really not going nuts-I just should have stuck with what is, IMO, the greatest console ever made.

It's working out well. A PSTwo is the perfect match for me, along with the DC I own. There are no games for $5.00, and I love the libraries for both systems.
I'll miss out on all PS1 and PS2 imports, but I could really care less. I'm not a big Cave fan, and I had MORE fun with R-Type Final and Silpheed then I ever did with DDPDOJ. Gradius Gaiden is great, but so is V, and as far as the slowness in R-Type Final-well, it's not like any of the games in that series were exactly manic!
This is not another pity thread by me, make no mistake about it. I just felt the need to explain myself, and I have. *shrugs*

Oh man...selling your Saturn. *sigh* That's like selling your pet dog 'sparky'. Do you have Garrega? Galactic Attack? Batsugun?
Everytime you sell something, you inevitably sell it for less than you'd need to buy the system again. You should keep this sytem man. The Saturn is a great console with some of the best shmups (along with the PS1), why sell it? Just save some more money, PS2s aren't that expensive.

Why do you feel the need to justify yourself? It's your money and your stuff, you can do what you please with it. Some people might not think your buying and selling particularly dollar-smart, but seriously, by now we've heard it all from them, anyone who's still complaining about this needs to mind their own business a bit more.

Yeah, you guys are right, I don't need to justify to anyone! And as far not selling things full price, I've pointed out before that that is next to impossible to do unless you have pictures of what you're trying to sell, which I don't and have no way of getting.
In any case, I just sold this lot to someone on Gametz, so mods, please close this thread!

that´s funny. I just got a Genesis, almost by chance. Someone was selling a Neo Geo joystick I wanted for €50, which is cheaper than usual, and he also had a Genesis for €10. So I thought "for the money saved with the joystick, I´ll just try and get a Genesis". Actually, I´ve never had a Genesis of my own before, only rented them a few times. So the Genesis is something like a "new" console to me, and I´m enjoying the easyness of not having to think that seriously about what game to purchase. I´m not even playing those Genny games for competition, like I´m used to with other shmups, so I´m doing things I haven´t dreamt of doing for years now, like switching to easy or using continues. And that´s very relaxing, I´ve come to consider shmups as some kind of sport, but now it´s games again, I play them for fun and entertainment only.So how's Raiden's advice working out?
The funny thing, of course, is that I´m completely contradicting what I said before about reducing oneself to a small number of essential shmups, while still seeing people refer to this former opinion of mine as "advice". Reduction only makes sense after looking around throughly, playing a large number of games, to truly know all options from which you choose, then. The superficial glances at Genesis shmups I gave them before didn´t convince me, but I felt like I should take a 2nd, closer look.
I think I can understand you, Dave. All this buying and selling is probably motivated by your wish to get to know a lot of shmups, to have some orientation which ones suit your taste best. There is one truth, that you need to play a game throughly to appreciate its depth, but there´s another truth that you need to play lots of games to know which ones you like best, and both are equally important. I´ve had the luck of knowing someone with such an extensive library of classic games, among them lots and lots of shmups, I didn´t have to buy many systems to get a superficial glance upon a lot of games. But now I feel this superficial glance wasn´t quite sufficient, and I need to own some games for a longer period to appreciate them.
So, just do as you please with your Saturn, I think the price is a little high, and you probably won´t sell it for that much anyway, but if you get to sell it, you might regret selling Batsugun at some point. It took me quite a while to appreciate this game for what it is, and recently there´s been a few games I still wish I had a Saturn for, yet it´s not like my life depends on them, I can just as well do without them. There will always be things I´d like to have, I just shouldn´t let this constant lack of satisfaction guide my actions to a point they don´t even make sense to myself anymore. If an unmodded US PS2 is the right thing for you, just grab it and don´t think twice about it.
edit: just saw you sold it already after lowering the price substantially (it was $200 a few hours ago), well, congratulations.

Thanks Raiden! I am actually making a counter offer to this guy on Gametz. I was going to sell it for less then $150, but I just want to see if he's willing to pay that much; that price would include S+H.
