Who wants to force you to buy a JPSTwo on this thread? Don't confuse us all for saturn haters please. :?
I didn't say anyone was forcing me to buy a JPSTWo, I was just giving my opinion on the matter; neither did I say that anyone was a "Saturn Hater". :?

Sorry if I resurrect an ancient thread, but I'd like to know more about Sega Treasure Box. 99pence was right, we discussed a lot and when the collection was released we didn't get much feedback (or I somehow missed it, even with the search button).

Jiji said this collection is true low res, something I'd never suspected. Is there anything I should know before buying it? Like, annoying bugs? glitches? Unfaithful bits? I'm sure someone among you got this one and I'd like to hear impressions. ^_^

It's been posted pretty widely that the audio is not 100% faithful, but people seem very happy with the pack overall. There are lots of features such as the selectable resolutions, the ability to turn off sprite flicker, and the inclusion of different territory versions of the games. Sega seems to have done a nice job with this one.

There's another thread with impressions. "Search for all terms" works wonders.

Best retro comp this gen, pretty much for the reasons bigbadboaz stated above + superplays. The booklet and packaging are lovely too.

When setting non-interlace display option, it doesn't save to memory card after power down. However, the menu can be pulled up with the select button at any time, so not much inconvenience.

The dev was M2, handpicked and supervised by Treasure (Masato Maegawa). The credit list is long and healthy.

Manabu Namiki was one of the two people who handled the 'Sound Analysis'.
I didn't notice much sound differences between the originals myself.

I'd just like to add I got this at the weekend and was very pleased with it. Only minor niggles is that it doesn't seem to save your system settings after powering down the console? :? and Alien Soldier is still bitch facking hard.

One of the few cases where having the PAL Mega Drive cartridge is actually an advantage, because you can set the speed to your liking (the JP version doesn't have a selector).

Selector?
Maybe it's differently worded from what I know, but what exactly do you mean.
IIRC, the PAL version of Alien Soldier is has higher difficulty than NTSC-J, so I've heard anyways.

The Euro version features 2 difficulty-modes. If you pause the game in the easier mode, you can select the game's speed; from slow motion to uplayably fast. I was under the impression the Japanese version deosn't have this, or does it?

No they both have it, maybe that's what threw me off initially, and my limited play on easy mode.
However, the speed control is only to make the game slower as I recall, not faster, unless you needed some alternative input.

Just got my copy today. :)

I'm loving my NTSC-J PS2. Almost enough to make me forget that I shouldn't have had to buy one to begin with! ;)

EDIT: It's so nice to be able to play Gunstar Heroes without torturing my hands on an original DS. I knew one person with a Genesis back in the 16 bit era, and he didn't have any of these games. I missed out on some great stuff.
