Name this shmup!

The snooker club in Bedford used to house a shmup in the late 90's. It must have been 95-99 ish because I left the UK in 2000.

I remember lots of tree's in the background, it was a TATE vertical shmup.. I am not sure if you were a black jet shooting helicopters or helicopters shooting black jets. I do remember a mode or special stage where the scrolling went to ludicrous speeds.

It seemed like present day stuff, missiles, jets, helicopters etc.. nothing from the past or future.. Thats all I remember.. its probably an easy one that I've just not played but I enjoyed watching the guy play it at the club and wouldnt mind giving it a bash myself (if I knew what it was called).

Okay, moderators, just do us all a favor and sticky this thread and rename it the official "Name that Shmup" thread. This is like...the fifth thread like this in as many days.

thats a very bad idea... imagine how confusing it would get, there'd be like, 3 or 4 conversations going on within the same thread, all at the same time

Could well have been Strikers 1945 III for all that matters. There's a black jet to choose, among the others, and it shoots two-kinda options that might look like jets themselves. No trees on the first stage, but maybe later on.
Anyway, it certainly looks like a late 90s psykyo shmup.

Twin Eagle (Taito/Seta 1988). I am 100% sure.

Instead of a boss battle, you have the "WARNING! Enemy fighters comeing up!" (sic) message and then the scrolling goes so fast as jets start coming out after you.

It's very simple, just quote the post you are responding to. I know other forums that have "name this song" or "name this game" type threads, and they work fine.

Sounds like Twin Eagle, I can vaguely recollect the title and that message on the screen before the scrolling speeds up. I guess there is no port of it. I've never heard of it either.. I guess its really not that good then?
