New AVI replay up: My first 1CC (Raiden Fighters 1)

Post by EddyMRA »

http://www.rf-emporium.net/movies/RF1_1 ... _mk-II.avi

162MB AVI file, Divx Encoded.

This is my first 1CC of a shmup ever.

I used my favorite ship, the Raiden mk-II. I got just about every major secret, except for two:

*Turning the non-firing medium escort planes in the Air Fortress boss stage into fairies. I needed to quickshot the attacking escort planes that appear before the non-attackers do. The Raiden mk-II is weak and can't quickshot worth a damn unless the plasma beam is coiling erratically.

*The final Miclus in the game, which appears in the final stage when you destroy bomb-carrying large white plane as it's leaving at the top.

I would have actually one-life-cleared this game if my bombs didn't suck so much. I died my only death at the final boss' last attack. I got killed just as my bomb was about to deploy. But, poetic justice was served: my bomb killed the final boss!

This AVI has sound, although it's buggy in the current version of MAME (v0.94v1). However, Raiden Fighters 1 has the best sound quality of the SPI games currently, so that you won't have to watch 24.5 minutes of gameplay in total silence.

Enjoy!

Feel free to mirror this AVI file as well!

Tres impressive. However, I'm a little surprised that you say this is your first 1CC. You clearly have great skills. And if you could do so well in this game, practically a 1LC, I would have assumed that you had 1CC'd the game before.

You watch now, this thread will get very little replies/feedback, when threads about "fav shmups tree" get 48764874 posts. :?

Damn right.

Trees > Skills any day of the week. You can't smoke skills. :B

Anyways, fantastic play Alluro. Although I wonder if the fact that you coded a Raiden Fighters-esque game helped any

Damn Alluro! 2 seconds from a 1 life clear too, that had to be frustrating.

I can't believe this is your first 1CC, you sure picked a difficult game as your first!

Very very nice replay.

Yeah, man, nice work! The bullets have too much of a Psikyo feel to them to consider it feasable for me. I'm still holding out with the hopes that Ikaruga will be my first 1CC (or that's what I tell myself).

I was going to consider Strikers 1945 III as my first 1CC, but it has that damned second loop with all those suicide bullets and extra boss patterns. I've beaten the 1-8 boss so many times on one credit with both the X-36 and the AV-8 Harrier that I should have technically 1CC'd that game. S1945II is where I first developed my skills, and I honed them in 1945III (See the boss replay vids on rf-emporium)

I've actually 1CC'ed the final boss in RF1 several times before, but the version I play, The Metrotainment Network (Asian), has a loop. That's the version I've been playing since 1997. I got a high score on that machine back in May 2001 of 64.5 million to 2-4 using the Raiden mk-II. I'm taking note of this 1CC because I've finally played a version that reflects the 1CC (no freaking loop).

Oh yeah. Someone here mentioned that when he dies for the first time in Strikers 1945 III starting in 1-5 or 1-6, it completely throws whatever groove he had in the toilet and the play session is essentially toast. That same exact thing happens to me too in this game. It's the huge rank downgrade when you die. I die for the first time in 1-5 or 1-6, then the game suddenly shifts from full rank to that two ranks down. The suddenly slower bullets completely derails my groove and my game is essentially crap.

that video helps me a lot. I got the near-1cc-video before, too, but this time I´m actually beginning to understand how the different secrets work. The descriptions on your site were a little hard for me to realize in actual gameplay, and just now I learned how much harder the game gets when you try to hover for micluses and stuff, but I feel like this video will give my score a huge boost. Not anywhere near your 44.250.730 (if you don´t mind, I´ll enter this into the RF1 hiscore thread), but still, gives me even more motivation to keep playing this game. Thanks a lot.

I'll try to match this feat for RF2 and RFJ. I will try to have the vids up by this weekend.

That was me.

Man, if you are going to post a video of an all-clear S1945III, I might not post my video then ;) I made a 1 life clear of the first loop (the 2nd always completely destroys me), and am having troubles uploading to my comcast webspace ... not sure if they accept video files that large.

I'm trying. The last 2 times I've tried to upload, the file mysteriously vanishes. Maybe if I zip it first.

Phew !

Hmmmm...nice shooting (remember the bonus stage in lethal enforcers 2: gunfighters ? thats what the lady is talking about :D )

Thank you very much for the great video.

Great job !

And if you would ask me...you have played it through with one life !

One question:
I have noticed that the soundtrack differs from my SPI Raiden Fighters version !

As i remember right i have the jap. version of the game.

Greetings

MAME currently has incomplete sound emulation. That's why the music sounds different.

Alluro, I am VERY impressed by the clarity of this Superplay video! Even the best RF Superplays I've seen before have really messed up colors, so thanks for doing this! :D

Man oh man; I REALLY hope these games make it Stateside! I know about SCEA's anti-2D policy, but Raiden shmups are so well known that they just might allow this series through-one can always hope!! :D

I am a bit confused by this statement. The first Raiden Fighters has been out in the arcade in the USA since 1997. And, there is currently no console port of the RF games. The two before (Saturn and Raiden Fighters Evolution for the X-Box) have been cancelled.

By "Stateside" I mean a US console port, or ports.

Dann! I'm trying to match the same feat in Raiden Fighters Jet, but that game gets ungodly hard on max rank! I still use the Raiden mk-II, and I can almost consistently get the big 3-tank 100,000x8 Fairy combo in Level 01 with the mk-II. However, there are lots of bullet-spam everywhere, especially by the bosses. And my bombs suck as a panic bomb. I got as far as the Phase 2 super-tank boss and put up a good fight before it spammed me to death.

If I have the RF Jet replay up, I'll probably upload the MAME INP replay for either that replay or the RF1 replay to save on bandwidth.

To the Phase 2 tank boss with the Raiden MK-II, that is truly impressive. Even with the Slave's superior firepower, I have a hard time clearing out many enemies(the big tanks and bombers) before they spam the screen with bullets, in levels 30 and Phase 2. You must truly mastered the MK-II's beam.
