Is a Sony PVM-1341 safe to use for tate?

I have a 13" PVM-1341 and I'd love to use it for shmups in tate mode, but I'm scared of putting it on its side and potentially damaging it. I really lucked out with this unit and I just wanted to know if it was safe, and if there's anything I should consider.
