SNES Mini C52 - Should I bother? Benefit?

Post by ProgVirus »

Recapped my SNES Mini last night as part of some preventative maintenance - I noticed that C52 wasn't populated, which is apparently normal for US models. I have the capacitor that would fit in there though (from a Console5 kit). Is there any benefit/detriment to adding it in? I feel like it's one of those "not needed, but can't hurt" situations, but wanted to run by a community who actually knows what they're talking about :D

Thanks!

I wondered this a while back, but I could find very little info on there being a reason to add one. Considering you don't see any of the big modders talk about it, Voultar, Game-Tech, Retro RGB, etc... I'd have to imagine it does very little, if nothing at all. If it made any tangible difference, everyone would have discussed it and there would probably be widespread info on doing it, which I have just never seen.

That's what I was thinking as well - I'm a bit new to console modding and repair, but have researched a lot online and found 0 information on it (outside of Console5's page - it says there it may increase compatibility with 3rd party PSUs which isn't my case).

Thanks for the input!
