Hello all,
my Supergun has two 15-pin controller ports that in the past I used with AES NeoGeo Sticks. My Sticks are not at my new place and I won't be able to get my hands on them for a whole (..C19...) and it got me thinking about alternatives.
Can any of you recommend some alternatives for PS1..PSn Sticks that I could use instead?
I found this one but has any one used it and is it any good?

Cheers.

NeoGeo Joystick Connector Controller Interface Options

Re: NeoGeo Joystick Connector Controller Interface Options
Brook supposedly makes top-end en/decoders and cross-platform controller adapters. They're basically the go-to. Buy with confidence.
That being said, I favor old controllers and would, in your situation, get a Sega Genesis or SNES decoder instead.
ArcadeForge ships from Germany, and makes good stuff. Good prices, too.

These ship from France. I have been curious about them for a while:

If you are looking for a stick, HORI has been making them since forever. Most will be decent, "RAP" sticks will be quite good and were produced at least as far back as PSX.
Or, you could just get the Brook adapter and a HORI mini, especially if this will just be for a few weeks.

The problem with Brook's Neo Geo adapter is that it only supports 4x buttons. If you need 6x buttons into your supergun, you need Undamned's DB15 USB Decoder.
Undamned's DB15 USB Decoder will get you PS3/PS4 and 360/One controller input support.

I would prefer not to use my SNES pads for this. I tend to use PS1 sticks and pads for most things these days.SCARTicus wrote:Brook supposedly makes top-end en/decoders and cross-platform controller adapters. They're basically the go-to. Buy with confidence.

Another option is to use the NeogeoX joystick conversion kit to allow them to be used as 15-pin devices. I have seen a few people convert them but not tried it myself.
I also used Tototek's PCE and FC=>PS1 converters in the past and they have been fine so far.
I see what you mean about these devices from the french seller.
I will give it a look.energizerfellow wrote:The problem with Brook's Neo Geo adapter is that it only supports 4x buttons. If you need 6x buttons into your supergun, you need Undamned's DB15 USB Decoder.

Re: NeoGeo Joystick Connector Controller Interface Options
Just a word of caution on the French seller. Its retroelektronic. I have 2 genesis/md to neo geo adapters from him. The pinout does not align to undamned and typical supergun pinouts. With a little bit of modification, you can get kicks all on the same "plane" and punches all on the same "plane", but they will be backwards. I.e. punches all on the bottom row and kicks all on the top row. This is of course, from an arcade stick perspective. With quite a bit more modification, you can get it configured to where you plug the controller directly into your genesis/md and have button mapping all correct, and then plug it into the converter and have it be correct on your supergun.
Tl;dr - the French converters have wonky button mapping, requiring significant modding to the converter to make it conform to a more "standard" supergun pinout.

Re: NeoGeo Joystick Connector Controller Interface Options
I see.
I have not had any issues thus far with Tototek's devices, but it may be a better idea to convert the NeogeoX sticks to be 15-pin compatible. I used the standard NG sticks for years with no troubles at all.
I will look into the options further.
I use either Saturn, NeoGeo or PS1 sticks and pads for most things apart from the SNES and Megadrive.

You could also just add a db15 connector to pretty much any stick and use that: https://youtu.be/B1xqRx-YrGs
