KLOV Hacked

Post by Brian »

If you go to the KLOV web site you can see it was hacked. Apparently, by a group that at least on the surface, claims to be a Muslim group. They rant on the page about the American and Israeli "killers".. I wonder how they picked KLOV of all sites to deface?

Probably just trawling through sites until they hit one they could get into.

I saw that too. The front page is hacked, but you can still get to all the game data luckily.

Here's a link to Ikaruga you can use as a starting point if you need to get something off of there today:

Anybody who has to resort to such low tactics to get their message across isn't worth one &^%$# of attention.

Can't violent religious fundamentalists and hardcore videogame players get along? Will it really be worth suicide bombing an arcade that is only filled with DDR players?

That sounds like an excellent reason to explode an arcade.

Why does everyone take things at face value so often? The religious fundamentalist thing was probably just a smokescreen.

I'm not going to bother visiting the sites to find out more, but it could be that messageboard vulnerability that was revealed lately which was used.

A month or two ago, phpbb team set up a mailing list for update announcements:

http://www.phpbb.com/support/

Which is worth subscribing to - when they moved to version 2.0.11, I made the update to our board, and the next day we had 2000+ hits trying to use that exploit. It seems some people are maintaining lists of phpbb boards so when an exploit comes out, they can use them. It's even possible to search for the version number using google (version number has been removed in the latest release)

In the latest version, the admin page also tells you if the board software is up to date.

Thanks for the heads up, I've run the upgrade, restored the data it splatted, and subscribed to that list.
