Gaming in Philly?

I'm spending next weekend in Philly and would like to know if there are any decent arcades? You see I live here in Massachusetts and we don't have any. Seriously I'm lucky to find a Galaga at a pizza joint.

You live in Mass? There's a place in Somerville (Good Time Emporium) plus the various Jillian's Pool places have games. In NH, there's a place called Funworld.

You're pretty much out of luck in Philly, too.
There used to be a pretty good arcade selection down there years ago, but surely enough they all started falling into dis-repair and then closed up.

Down on Delaware Ave there is a Dave & Busters, and a GameWorks.
I've never been to the Dave & Busters, and I only ever play pinball at Gameworks, but they did have Metal Slug 5 a couple years ago, and generally tend to have at least one "traditional" action/scrolling game around.

The only "real" arcade still around is University Pinball on Spruce St. just west of 40th St., (if you head west on South against the One Way - use Lombard in a car, then drop down to South St, just before the river, go into west Philly via the South Street bridge, then South becomes Spruce St.) Yeah, so anyway University Pinball was pretty authentic up until 5 or 6 years ago when most of their pinball machines and classic cabinets were replaced by redemption machines. They did have a couple Ultracade cabinets with like 20 games a-piece, and they had Dolphin Blue on a deluxe cab last time I was there in the Fall. Beware that the controls on Raiden 2 have been janky for like 4 years, and nobody seems to care to fix 'em.

There are also some Vietnamese soup places on Washington Ave, and a few of them have really random games straight from Asia sometimes.
Good luck, and be sure to get a cheese steak from Jim's Steaks or Geno's or Tony Luke's while you're in town. (Pizza Steak with onions is the way to go!) btw, don't waste your appetite getting a cheese steak from anywhere, and don't you dare eat from one of the street carts, unless it’s the falafel guy.

Thanks but you don't have to tell me about goodtimes, the place stinks. I live 2/3 of a mile away and won't go there. As far as Jillians, they remodeled the game floor and turned it into an upscale pool hall and bowling alley. When i was a kid we had an arcade called "Fun and games", at the time was the biggest arcade in the world (early eighties). If you live around the medford area lets hook up sometime.
