Knowing the orientation of this site, I think that

http://www.the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm
http://www.kotaku.com/

are the best info sites of wacky and interesting VG, mainly focused on NTSC/J stuff. Expecially kotaku which is updated like 5-6 times per day, while magic box once every two-three days or so.
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

GameFAQs, bemanistyle, and gp32x (more for development rather than gaming though).

I rarely post at the first two though, since my posts go largely ignored.

IGN, but only for the Classic Sega Board since I posted on the Dreamcast General Board way back when the DC was alive and kicking. Though admittedly those boards are getting lame.

Neo-geo.com when I want to know what the retards of the internet are up to.

ASSEMbler for, seemingly good VG discussion. Granted, I'm still new there.

I used to post at digitalpress and TNL... but neither of those lasted long.

I mainly go to the Castlevania Dungeon and Castlevania Repertoire forums, but also hit Gamefaqs when I'm feeling especially masochistic.

I recall a while back you inquiring about GameDoctors (SNES) and ucon64 on GF's to which I noticed and provided feedback.

On topic, sometimes I post in GameFAQ's and Initial-D.com/forums but otherwise not much. More recently I checkup insertcredit.com but not briefly. Oh, and mother.starmen.net forums.

Not a lot really. Mostly I stick to Joystiq and Kotaku for news, and will occasionally read Blue's News or IGN, but that's about the extent of it. The only other forum I post at on a regular basis is the Puzzle Pirates forum (http://www.puzzlepirates.com, a pirate themed puzzle MMOG.)

The Magicbox.com has been mentioned on this thread. I was just trawling through it and found this quote in 'Today's Gaming News';
Magic Box Quote:
* The PS2 shooter Twinkle Star Sprites will not be published in US because there's no market for the genre
An arbitrary dismissal of the genre

Everyone should keep an eye on:http://www.neo-arcadia.com/News/voir_ne ... n=voirtout
It's french, but it's ace. If they ever do an English option on the site, it will be the most awesome arcade (and arcade conversions) related site out there. Lot's of fighting games, shmups and other arcade games

I visit game faqs from time to time, really just to hear what other people think of games I might buy or really like. Too many stupid kids though. Some of the FAQs are really time saving + downloading a perfect game file with hundreds of hours of play that i didn't spend leveling is cool.

Way to inaccurately quote people! Are you an up-and-coming gaming journalist?

Copied and pasted from www.the-magicbox.com

"- SNK Playmore USA president Ben Herman mentioned the company's future plans:
Developers are looking into how to use the Wii controller in Metal Slug Anthology
Metal Slug 6 will not be included in Metal Slug Anthology, however the game will likely appear in a Nintendo platform, because 2D games are not suitable for PS3 or Xbox 360
Sony has rejected a number of their 2D projects for PS2, because they do not correspond to the graphic standard
Metal Slug for GBA is a port of the first title in the series, coming out in September 2006
SNK Playmore does not plan to release future titles for Xbox
Wii will receive the most software support from SNK Playmore
The PS2 shooter Twinkle Star Sprites will not be published in US because there's no market for the genre"

Hence, magic box gave no such "dismissal" of any genre. They merely reported what they where told.

Ya know, for all the flak that The Magic Box gets, it's almost never been wrong the past few years. I remember when they were more unreliable (and didn't credit their image sources) like 5 years ago.

I of course frequent gamengai the most, probably followed by here (although I never go to the front page). I spend quite a bit of time at assembler as well, although the qualtiy of posts has slipped a bit in the last year. I also spend some time at Gamefaqs on single-game boards for the duration it takes me to clear that game. If it's before the US version of the game comes out, the moron-factor is kept to a minimum.

Interesting phenomenon. When games for the rich and educated become games for the common peoples, huh?

A lazy quote from me. Yes, it was SNK Playmore USA President that wrote;
The PS2 shooter Twinkle Star Sprites will not be published in US because there's no market for the genre"

I apologize to The Magic Box.
