Post by Lawfer »

It can play all Neo Geo games + homebrews/unlicensed games + about 50 Neo Geo CD games on your MVS/CMVS.

Yes: https://shop.terraonion.com/en/neo-geo- ... o-mvs.html

Check Terraonion twitter, they talked about how apparently as of now they are only planning on making a single run of these and then that's it, because they are too expensive to make and they do not want to risk investing tens of thousands on a product that could be sitting unsold for months (this is also apparently the same exact reason why Analogue is not too keen on making alot of Analogue Nt Mini units.)

They also announced that as of now more than half of their NeoSD Pro MVS have sold and if you want one you should get it now because they are unlikely to make a second run of these, remember that there are no AES to MVS adapters as of now (even though there are MVS to AES adapters) so you won't be able to use the more produced NeoSD Pro AES on an MVS and this is the only flashcart for the Neo Geo MVS that will allow you to play ~50 of the Neo Geo CD library on an MVS.

I just bought a standard NeoSD earlier this summer for $399, there were no SD Pro MVSs at the time. But honestly Im not sure of any exclusive games on Neo CD that would be worth the extra $250 for. Now that Ive become aquainted with GroovyMAME and seeing how well it works, looking back I didnt even really need the NeoSD to begin with. TBH with the loading times on both NeoSD and the Darksoft carts, using the *theoretically shitty and dangerous but in practice works almost perfectly* 161 in 1 cart if you have an MVS and just using an old PC with a $15 HD5450 GPU for the few must have games not available on that cart is probably a more affordable option than this SD Pro.

Wonder why it is (technically) that only about 50 of the CD library is supported?

you see the stupidity here?
Of course theyl'll do another run. And if they were capable of thinking of a better way of ordering - like open preorders for another batch, they wouldn't have to threaten their twitter crowd with nonsense like this either.

TO also isn't capable of simply sending out any kind of newsletter. Despite offering the option on their website. It's almost unfortunate that they make quite nice gear.

It's from what I understand a similar situation to the SD2SNES compatibility with Super NES Enhancement Chip, it's basically coming from a third party and that third party can continue or stop working on this whenever he wants, in the case of the NeoSD Pro support for the Neo Geo CD library from what I understand is (or was) only coming from one person, "Razoola" as he is known online: https://twitter.com/unibios and from what I gather he has stopped working on the NeoSD Pro Neo Geo CD support for more than a year now so about 50 games are compatible as of now.

Well that's the new selling tactic, make everything limited, look at Analogue. We've seen that with Analogue and how it's working very nicely, everything sells out right away, make a batch, sell out and leave a big gap (months or a year+) together with a feeling of uncertainty to the customers then make another batch which sells out again right away, PROFIT! That will have people hanging until it's available once again for purchase to have them rushing to buy the product instead of apathetically putting off the purchase for an hypothetical "later" that never comes (since it's readily available and hence doesn't capture the same interest since there is no rush to buy) and that also increase the value of the product, I mean have you seen how much the Analogue Nt Mini Noire, Analogue Pocket or even the Super Nt (despite the fact that it was readily available for purchase for a long time, but did become sold out for quite a bit now) is selling for on ebay now? That increases the value and hence the demand.

But that wouldn't have sold as well and as fast compared to how it does with this method, Terraonion themselves mentioned that they don't want to have merchandise sitting around that takes months to sell so with this it sells faster and much better than just having an item in stock and readily available 24/7, people just would complain that it's too expensive and wouldn't buy it since there would be no rush as it would be readily available, but a limited item will pull in the people right now among those that are interested, those that are on the fence and even those that complain that it's too expensive (but on the side will still do a 180 degree and buy it anyways) since there is the rush to buy (before it sells out) and uncertainty. We have seen this scenario play out with Analogue quite a few times now like with the Analogue Nt Mini Noire, lots of complainers that it's too expensive "Ha, what a ripoff it's too expensive I won't be getting one!" *Analogue Nt Mini Noire orders closes*, *same complainers do an instant 180 degree* "NO! Please make one last run I NEED ONE!"

But just in case, if you are interested in the NeoSD Pro MVS it would be better to get it now, because even if they make another batch, this present batch will sell out soon and it won't be available for a long time (like how it is for the NeoSD Pro AES between the span of times when it's "out of stock" and "in stock") and it's not like this is being sold by amazon so that if you wait it out it'll get a price cut.

Worth mentioning that anyone ordering this in the EU will likely be hit with a pretty huge import tax bill once this lands on their doorstep. In the UK it would be in the region of £130.

Yeah, Terraonion has added a disclaimer related to this on their page: "Ships from Andorra. Import taxes and/or fees may apply depending on the destination country." But even with this, I would say it's still worth it as it's the best MVS flashcart available on the market right now which will grant you access to 200+ games, meaning about 160 Neo Geo games + 50 Neo Geo CD games (which includes the mythic Samurai Shodown RPG which has a complete french patch for anyone who can read french and there is also an incomplete english patch).

All this for the price of a used copy of Garou: Mark of Wolves MVS Cartridge: https://www.ebay.com/itm/133488114205

Analogue? Business! Closed source, right? If I posted a way to rip Analogue source and get it to MiSTer, would I be wrong?

Google Risky Rick. Now, give me one explanation why all the details surrounding the issue needed to be published. The dev didn't promise compatibility with all ColecoVisions and they didn't owe you a full explanation. A "good enough" explanation could have been shared without full disclosure on how to dump and play the game.

Everyone will have a different opinion. Personally, I don't think it was right to share all that with the world. It was a brand new game. Double standard, man.
