NESRGB correct cable

Hi, all. I'm relatively new and appreciate your patience in advance.

I've purchased the NESRGB kit and I purchased a SNES multiout pcb. From what I understand in terms of sync, the NESRGB has csync and luma, and the SNES pcb has this as well. No incompatibility problems that I'm aware of so far.

I plan to game on my NTSC CRT which will be getting RGB modded soon. My TV has native inputs for composite and s-video. I plan to mod it with a SCART input and use luma as sync from s-video. I'd rather use csync from the NESRGB because from what I've read, the picture quality might be negligibly better with csync than luma, but I don't know if my CRT natively has csync, hence my decision to use luma from s-video. If I'm mistaken, let me know!

From what I've read on Retro Gaming Cables on their article "Demystifying RGB & Sync" it looks like a cable with luma sync will work for csync systems, in my case, NESRGB. Is there any reason to do luma sync cable instead of csync cable IF my crt is capable of csync? I'm trying to go for best quality possible, even if it's hardly noticeable, as I'm sinking in a bunch of money into the NESRGB kit and modding my CRT, so I'd hate to leave performance on the table at this point.

There's no real picture quality difference between luma sync and c-sync. It's just composite video sync that you want to avoid unless your cables are sufficiently well-shielded (i.e. Retro Access coax). As for your TV, it doesn't care where the sync comes from as long as the voltage levels are what it's expecting. Composite video, luma, or attenuated c-sync should all work fine.

Interesting! In the case of NESRGB, do I need to do anything special on my NESRGB in order to get expected voltage levels at the CRT?

Assuming you're using a correctly built SNES c-sync SCART cable with a 330-470 ohm resistor on the sync line, just leave jumper J8 open and you're good to go.
