NTSC SCART consoles on Commodore 1084S-P?

Post by ASDR »

I never did much with my old Commodore monitor since it only decodes PAL over the composite jacks in the back. But it's of course primarily an RGBHV monitor. I found this cable on eBay:

Guess it has an LM1881 in there to get separate H&V sync. Can anybody recommend this seller or even this cable? Also, does anybody know if this monitor would be fine with 60Hz 240p/480i signals?

Thanks!

I believe the monitor accepts csync for analog RGB. There probably isn't any stripping/conversion happening.

There are many different variants of this monitor, some even have a SCART connector (apparently it can be fitted on all units, just a few missing capacitors and resistors), but I don't think the 6-pin DIN on the 1084S-P accepts csync:

Also see "1084S-P" here:

Any thoughts on this seller / cable and NTSC 60Hz on the 1084S-P?

It does support CSync even if that pinout diagram does not show it. If you check the schematic you'll find that the VSync and HSync pins of these inputs are combined into a single sync signal internally.

Fascinating. So there's basically nothing requires to get SCART into this monitor? Just connect RGB to RGB, ground to ground and pin 21 sync to either of the input sync pins?
