This game works fine on my Japanese Saturn, but after I put it in, it doesn't always go to the Taito logo and then the intro, it just shows some vertical green lines. But then when I press start, it goes right to the title screen, and the game works fine. I don't think my Saturn's dying, because Batsugun works fine on it, and so did Game Tengoku.
I have the red "Saturn Collection" edition of Metal Black, if that helps.

The game itself still plays fine, though-I just press on the start button, and it goes to the title screen.
Do you think the Saturn is dying, TWITCH? I wouldn't think so, since two other games work perfectly on it. But I'm trying to sell it, and I don't want to sell someone a console that'll die on them a week after they get it.

Are there any scratches on the disc itself, anything like that? If the system only does this with the one game, it might be the game itself that causes it. An old copy of Raystorm I bought had a bunch of scratches, and while it played fine the sound was messed up, a problem one of my old Playstations had...this time, though, it wasn't the system.
There is one long scratch on the back of the disc, and the part near the "hole" is fairly scuffed up, so that's probably it. Thanks for the advice guys; it's much appreciated!

One of my old saturns (Gray one) gave a pixelly mess on the screen and crashed on the Bomberman title screen. I bought another bomberman and it did the same thing on that one.
Unfortunately when I sold it as broken on ebay, the buyer said it was fine.. Then I bought a Derby Stallion Saturn and would never play Outrun, but it works with everything else perfectly.
So its a hit and miss thing really.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Just for the record, my Metal Black copy did this to me a few times too. At first I'd go to reset the game believing that it had frozen, but then it goes to the title screen.

My 'This Is Cool' skeleton Saturn used to do this. Again, Out Run only. Weird, as it's a JPN machine running (well, my version) a JPN game.
