I finally broke my record:

since I dont break my records often, I celebrated with some images:

I managed to milk quite huge points from the lvl3 boss final form, so its worth a go, definitely

I get always killed in the stage6 corridor, I have not been able to find a suitable strategy for that one yet..

Went for some BS fun this afternoon, and tried milking the first boss for a change. And it really helped:

Kewing - 8,314,950 - Hellhound - Stage 4

Had a decent run until stage 4 where I stupidly screwed it up. Guess I need to work more on stage 4 from now on.

Btw, do you people think it would be better if I swtiched to Windina? From what I've read in the thread it seems quite easier to score with it. But I'm having my doubts since I still like the balanced treats of Hellhound

I don't think the character makes too much difference. Afaik, the world record holder uses Aryustailm.

Apparently though, Peplos is a broken character, although I don't know exactly why. Asked about it today: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=7257

I'll post a score in a bit, when I get better at this game. Only just got started.

Hmm, I see.... Well, I gave Windina a couple of tries some days ago, and it may feel a bit better in some parts for scoring/milking, but yeah I guess it doesn't make that much difference (except for firepower, I'm surprised how quickly you can take down enemies when near pointblank range

). Don't know if I'll definitely switch to it, tho, but I guess it will come out naturally

Maxed out rank isn't all that bad, actually.

Peplos is broken because her rapid tapping shot does much more damage than all the other rapid tapping shots. This isn't usually a problem, except that it gives Peplos enough power to survive baby swarms in the final stage without much trouble.

Ah..

I'm a little hesistant to keep adding Peplos scores, simply because I don't think anyone will dispute the ships brokeness, so the unfair advantage it has should hopefully not be of any dispute. Sorry Twiddle.

I'll keep AOTD3025's score there for now, as it was fairly clear he/she was learning the game 'legally', enjoying so in the process, and noone minded. However, if you could resubmit a score with a different ship, it would keep everyone on an even playing field

Kewing, as far as I remember the world record Windina and Hellhound scores aren't that far apart, worth playing around with all of the ships if only for a bit of variety now and then

Is Hell Hound a good middle ground for those who don't like the Windina's speed but can't handle the unwieldiness of Aryustailm?

Stages 1-5 are pathetically easy, and 6 and 7 is where the devs felt like putting all the difficult parts that should have been in the previous four stages.

oh crap, i sure got bumped down

might be a motivation to play it again, since it's the only non-tate shmup i enjoy playing these days (still too lazy to tate my garbage, damn, the new TV really fucked my shmup life :p)

now if only i hadn't bought oblivion, then morrowind, i might have some willpower to play something else, damn games are terrible, once you play them, you don't want to play anything else.

word of advice to everyone: if you care any about your scores, just stay away from the elder scrolls series.
