KD-34XBR960 Convergence and Geometry

Looking for some advice on my newly acquired XBR960.

Is it normal to see the same blooming distortion as with standard definition sets in bright areas of the picture?

Also, my convergence and geometry are terrible, even by SD set standards.

It was manufactured in 2004.
I can’t imagine it was sold in this condition.

I want to restore it, but I’m not sure where to start.
Could aging capacitors have caused it to degrade this much?
