I have a custom arcade cabinet that has a CRT TV (with component input) and an audio amplifier + speakers for sound.
Until recently, I had a standard PC running MAME with the VGA output going to a VGA/Component transcoder (Crescendo TC1600) and finally to the TV.
The audio came from the PC into the audio amplifier and provided sounds.
The control panel went to a keyboard encoder and then to the PC.
Now I'm using a MiSTer FPGA device but I'd still like to switch back/forth to the MAME PC for other games.
I think I need a Component (YPbPr) + Audio (3.5mm) + USB switching device but it must be high quality with no noticeable quality loss, etc.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Best KVM for Arcade? (re: YPbPr + Audio + USB switcher)
Re: Best KVM for Arcade? (re: YPbPr + Audio + USB switcher)
You have a few options, but I don't know of a single-piece solution that will switch all 3.
Extron makes good switchers that will not degrade your signal, and they can be had cheaply on eBay. You will need to buy adapters to use your RCA cables, but you will get very good professional level audio and video switching.
The MVX and SW series will take VGA and Component(with a connector adapter) for video, and 3.5mm for stereo analog audio. SW can often autoswitch. Both series are made in audio and sans-audio versions, so pay attention when buying. You will need VGA to 3RCA adapters
The Extron Crosspoint series will take Component (or Svideo, CVBS, RGB) over 75Ohm BNC for video, and I believe that they can also take audio from those same BNC inputs. You will need BNC male to RCA female adapters and BNC male to 3.5mm TRS adapters. I do not know where to source the latter, but it can be built, or you could use a 3.5mm TRS to 2RCA adapter with 2 RCA to BNC adapters.
Or you could use a 5RCA component AV switch. You will need 3.5mm TRS to RCA adapters. This one is supposed to be good:

That takes care of AV. USB switches are easy:

You like adapters, right?

Re: Best KVM for Arcade? (re: YPbPr + Audio + USB switcher)
Thanks so much for the information.
EDIT: I've just purchased an Extron SW4 VGA/Ars. It looks like it supports basically anything over DB15 (RGBHV or YPbPr, etc).
Now I'll need some cables and a USB switch (Extron SW USB perhaps?)
The only issue would be switching the control panel from the USB encoders to a SuperGun but I might just need to do that manually I think.
