One of my all time faves is coming to the x-box live arcade!
I hope in the future they bring some more classic shmups to the 360!
How about next gen shmups for the 360..any news ?????

Not racing, first person shooting or sports titles that's for sure :(bloodflowers wrote:Depends on what you like.Arznei wrote:Still not worth buying a 360 over, unfortunately. Geometry Wars and Oblivion are the only real reasons to buy a 360 at this point.
Half of those titles aren't in Australia yet, so I can't comment on them. However Viva Pinata looked kind of dumb, Dead or Alive 4 had a horrible counter system, & Kameo lasts like 8 hours, too.Lost Planet, Enchanted Arms, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Gears of War, Kameo, Blazing Angels, Over G Fighter, Chrome Hounds, Dead Rising, Ninety Nine Nights, Dead or Alive 4, DDRUniverse, Mass Effect, Too Human, Viva Pinata, etc.

So your first console was a Dreamcast?Kron wrote:Again the problem is that the lineup is so totally and utterly dominated by the same type of games

It would be a wise idea to check some big gaming websites once a year, so as not to make a fool of yourself with comments like this. There are games for at least 6-8 genres out now, with more (for example, bemani) coming out in the future.Kron wrote:Let alone games that don't fall within the 3 seemingly target genres.
Fixed. Its incredibly difficult to be objective about the machine when in all honesty I only like shmups.
I make a motion, that anyone who speaks favourably of said genres in Shmups Chat be suspended from the forum for up to one week, depending on the severity of the transgression. In cases like "I played Pole Position on my Atari when I was younger", a caution should be issued.elvis wrote:Thank goodness. And here I was thinking I was the only one who is sick to death of those genres.Arznei wrote:Not racing, first person shooting or sports titles that's for sure![]()
Saturation point much?

Good for you, You are obviously the exact sort of person who Microsoft are interested in appealing to. Its a shame they aren't interested in expanding gaming as apposed to making it a limited experience for a certain group of people.icycalm wrote:I don't know what you are talking about. I'd say a good 25 titles have me wetting my pants.
They can be checked as many times as you'd like it still doesn't change the fact its totally under representing what could be possible and is on offer on other platforms.icycalm wrote: It would be a wise idea to check some big gaming websites once a year, so as not to make a fool of yourself with comments like this. Shmups aren't even my favourite type of games.Fixed.Its incredibly difficult to be objective about the machine when in all honesty I only like shmups.
lol
Why don't you just come clean and admit you hate the 360 for whatever reason, along with the PS2 which IIRC you also hate (despite a massive and incredibly diverse software library). It's ok to just say "I hate the 360 because it's by Microsoft", but to claim it has no good games or deny that there's good stuff on the horizon is folly.Kron wrote:Each and everyone one of those consoles had a better representation of software than what the 360 represents and brings.
Kron wrote:None of those games may suck in your opinion but they also add nothing that sets them apart from the previous generation apart from a graphical update. They are also all sequels apart from Condemned which shows the genreal lack of imagination that is rife on the system.
The 360 is dissapointing to me because of the half assed non interesting software and lack of genuinely insightfull and well developed exclusives.
I don't know where the anti PS2 thing comes from, I own one with over 120 games so please don't talk utter tripe.
Sorry but someone's going to have to break this to you. Welcome to gaming. The majority of software on any system is just reinventing the wheel with current technology. Even the super revolutionary controller from Nintendo was shown 1) shooting people, 2) playing tennis, and 3) playing a 3d runaround Zelda.Kron wrote:None of those games may suck in your opinion but they also add nothing that sets them apart from the previous generation apart from a graphical update.
Then you won't be buying another game system ever again, I suppose.Kron wrote:The 360 is dissapointing to me because of the half assed non interesting software and lack of genuinely insightfull and well developed exclusives.
Ok, fair enough.Kron wrote:I don't know where the anti PS2 thing comes from, I own one with over 120 games so please don't talk utter tripe.
No, Its welcome to gaming on the 360.bloodflowers wrote:[going to have to break this to you. Welcome to gaming.
I'll be buying a Wii and a PS3 as they will offer infinately more interesting options and don't suffer from this need to limit new ideas.Kron wrote: Then you won't be buying another game system ever again, I suppose.
unlike the absolutely unique shmups, rpgs, and platformers of the earlier generationsKron wrote:None of those games may suck in your opinion but they also add nothing that sets them apart from the previous generation apart from a graphical update. arcade: shooters, platform games, random action stuffKron wrote:No, Its welcome to gaming on the 360.bloodflowers wrote:[going to have to break this to you. Welcome to gaming.
Did you even watch E3? PS3 is no different to the 360, potentially weaker as they don't even have the marketplace outlet for simpler or more obscure stuff. Nintendo want to sell you all the same games again with a new controller. Hey, good luck to them - while their product doesn't interest me, it's always nice to see an alternate gaming view. Just don't try calling it innovative, because it's anything but.Kron wrote:I'll be buying a Wii and a PS3 as they will offer infinately more interesting options and don't suffer from this need to limit new ideas.bloodflowers wrote: Then you won't be buying another game system ever again, I suppose.
