Is anyone actually interested in making your own game?
I'm a fan of the classics, but I like making my own games more sometimes. I like this site but feel that the indie game developement section is almost dead. I'm not caliming that my game is T3H B3ST GAM3 3VA! I was dissapointed to see that the thread is somewhat dead though.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Which dead thread are you talking about?
I like the idea of making a game, and I think I know enough programming to have a lot of fun with that side of it. Not so much for art & music though, I expect I'd just make utter crap there if I tried. I'm not "serious" about it in the sense of having a timeline and expectation of creating a product. Maybe if I was more strongly committed, and knew well enough what I wanted, I could identify like-minded people and try to collaborate and get something done, but I'm just not that motivated. Besides, there's already too many good games and not enough time to play.
I did actually play your demo for a little while, just didn't think to say anything. It's alright, nice bit of risk/reward tradeoff between the forward beam and the auto-aiming shot, but it gets old; not enough of a game there yet. Take that as you will...

"Can they really get inside my head?"
"As long as you keep an open mind."

I guess I would just lie to see more people making shmups for fun. I feel kind of alone because of such few projects. My game isn't the best, I admit that, this was more about the lathargic developement secton tha anything else.

I'm working on something, vaguely. It's all a matter of time, I don't have much - same for a lot of people. You go out to work, come home worn out, last thing you want is to concentrate sometimes, so you play a few games and go to sleep ready for the next workday.

I was a Wal Mart cashier for a year, I know the feeling. What language are you using?bloodflowers wrote:I'm working on something, vaguely. IIRC bloodflowers is a software developer.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I was a Wal Mart cashier for a year, I know the feeling. What language are you using?bloodflowers wrote:I'm working on something, vaguely. *Meow* I am as serious as a cat could possible be. *Meow*
Blitzmax as it's cross platform - my programming is very rusty.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I was a Wal Mart cashier for a year, I know the feeling. Sorry Max, I'm not a developer, I used to be a mixed discipline programmer/sysadmin as a job, and did loads of demos and stuff on the Amiga, along with telnet based chatlines and the like. I had to drop programming as a regular thing though after suffering some arm/wrist problems.
