TV only has a single input for component - what adapter?

Post by Skykid »

I have an LED TV and I totally assumed component was there. And it is - sort of. There's only a single input for component, and a single for red and white audio, with a diagram showing the colours for each next to the input. When I flick on component on the TV it shows a diagram with some kind of single input adapter that's needed to connect. I'm guessing this is becoming a standard (and standardly annoying) thing on newer TVs, but I'm not sure exactly what the adapter is and I don't want to purchase the wrong thing. Can anyone confirm that this is the right kind of cable:

And this is sold out, too!

It's not a standard. Each manufacturer has a different pinout for the adapter. You need to look it up by tv model

Aw geez. That's going to suck. Maybe I'd be better with a component to HDMI adapter?

Maybe. Really depends on the quality of the analog front end in the tv vs the quality of the hdmi digitizer

I'm trying to get a Hauppage HD PVR hooked up to record from the TV. So mainly my only real concern is added lag. I've seen some things about low cost adapters being an option, but I can't find anything concrete for recommendations.
