It's not very easy to register here!
Hey people. I've been trying to register here for awhile, but since you can't register with either a yahoo or gmail account, I had to create a new email in order to register here :p... well, anyways... I've finally done it, and hope to get more into the shooter scene. BTW, I am the same stuffmonger as on the n-g.com, s-n.com, and a-w.com forums.
I think one of the reasons that kind of addresses are not allowed (I use hotmail, and worked, though) it's that we sometimes get them spammers trying to sell us their crap. Confirmation is required to avoid the forum being flooded with freaky sites about dominatrix mud-fetish girls in leather with whips.
Anyway. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy yourself and feel free to mingle, pilot.

Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
Well at least it sounds like you are interested in participating in forums other than just the trading station. We got to many neo-geo dudes coming over just to post their forsale stuff, since there is no 100 post limit like over there.
BTW: were you one of the guys that came over to my place up north when you were attending some Expo with Big?

All (known) free email sites are blocked. Firstly, they're commonly used by spammers. We had quite a problem for a bit with spam accounts appearing, although most never got used before they were spotted and cleaned. Secondly, if you get a troublemaker from hotmail.com, you can ban them, and it takes them seconds to create a new free address, and come back. Yes, with many paid for services you can easily set up more or rename, but people don't appear to do this as readily. Blocking the really shoddy ones like yahoo also stops our mail server building up hundreds of undeliverable emails because their systems reject mail seemingly at random, and it stops people asking me why they didn't get topic notifications and PM emails.
You can see the end result. Very few persistant issue users, and no spam.

That's because you (and others, myself included) registered using the now-banned e-mail providers before they were banned. The ban, which took place quite a while ago, had no effect on the already existing userbase. So you're safe.SAM wrote:I actually registered here using a gmail account...![]()

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!
Dave k> yes, I was there with Roger and Chai... btw, I've been looking for an exceleena since your meetup... lucky bastard.
rolins> how do you forward emails to your yahoo account? I don't really like the idea of having to use a bunch of emails for different forums... I like just having a single email for them... it makes it easier to manage, as you can imagine.
And no, I'm not here to just sell stuff... actually, I always intend to sell stuff, but end up just buying more than I should
Just for giggles, I'll post my small shmup collection thus far.
Aero Fighters
Blazing Star
Dragon Blaze
Ghost Pilots
Ikaruga
Mars Matrix
Pilot Kids
Rabit Punch
Salamander 2 (should have it this saturday)
Shienryu
Twin Eagle 2
Zed Blade
Zero Gunner
That's all my arcade shooters (I think)... I know it's not quite as grand as alot of members here, but it's a start. I'm also planning to get more into the NES shooters, and I look forward to the Wii (hopefully it has more than just mario and fps games).
Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!

Are you aware that Google Mail indefinitely stores every email you send and receive, even AFTER you delete it (and they do God knows what with them)? And that they will turn over your emails if a goverment agency requests it? I know that a growing number of companies don't allow sending emails to gmail accounts for that reason.Fenrir wrote:PhewGhegs wrote:The ban, which took place quite a while ago, had no effect on the already existing userbase. Oh, and welcome to the boards!
Btw, if you are using gmail and the google search engine and allow it to place cookies on your computer, then they probably also store every search you do and link it to your gmail account.

So what? I am not revealing national security information, I am not terriest. You won't find any of my fininal information in my email less my PayPal account name, which in fact is my gmail account. I don't think linkage of those information would do any harm to me.Ceph wrote:Are you aware that Google Mail indefinitely stores every email you send and receive, even AFTER you delete it (and they do God knows what with them)? BTW, gmail address book is real useful... I put all my friends address, tel no, brithdays, socal secuty number there and I could look up for them any place, anywhere provided I got internet access.

A few of my favorites in there. Blazing Star received about 2 hours of non-sexual love from me yesterday.stuffmonger wrote: Just for giggles, I'll post my small shmup collection thus far.

The college I'm attending has their own forwarding system, so don't think you can use that. But you can setup Yahoo Mail to grab emails from other POP email accounts. When you login to Yahoo Mail goto Options -> Mail -> Mail Address.stuffmonger wrote: rolins> how do you forward emails to your yahoo account? I guess you could PM a mod and ask him/her to do you a favour.rolins wrote:The college I'm attending has their own forwarding system, so don't think you can use that. Welcome to the forums, Mr. Stuff.
As far as your shmup collection goes, you might want to set yourself up a spot here.

All issues are legitimate - except the last one. I assure you that I do read all the entries.SAM wrote:I don't want to post my collection, that's a lots of work.BulletMagnet wrote:As far as your shmup collection goes, you might want to set yourself up a spot here.Besides I don't see any points in doing so.
Plus I don't think any one would really go though and read the list.

You got me itching to do that.

Wait, why are we trying to avoid this stuff? After all, these can only help us by displaying Shmups on top in search engine results. We need to expand our audience and here is the perfect opportunity!Specineff wrote:Confirmation is required to avoid the forum being flooded with freaky sites about dominatrix mud-fetish girls in leather with whips.![]()
LOL!
You seem to think it's all about cutesy stuff like bunnies and hamsters, but you're dead wrong. Ijust browsed through their forum (for the first time, honestly!), and I am shocked. The NG.com war room is like a kindergarten compared to this. Click here for a thread where a 24 year old guy gets flamed by a bunch of little girls. Pretty scary stuff.
