[Success] CDI magnavox 450 RGB mod

Post by aleomark »

Hi guys, thanks for enter in these topic to read and help, first I'm a video game enthusiast, and I did study medicine, so my knowledge in electronics is limited, but for the fun and love to games I've been reading, and learning concepts, also been doing rgb and hdmi mods installations for my consoles (hidef nes, ultrahdmi, pluto IIX, sms bypass, pce rgb, n64 rgb, snes jr rgb, wiidual, dchdmi), so I'm ok following indications, now I want to mod my cdi to rgb output.

The thing is that I can't find clear instructions, I've been reading about it in these web http://8bitplus.co.uk/your-consoles/phi ... 0-rgb-mod/

so i understand the steps are these:

-open up the console and look for BT9106 and BT9107 video encoder.
-enable rgb by lifting the pin 14 while connected to 5v (through a 1k ohm resistor)
-get RGB from pins 4,8,6.
-get Sync from either pin 2 or composite video socket.
-get audio from audio R and L socket.

I was thinking use a voultar's pce rgb board, will that work fine?

or do i need one like these on ebay? (I prefer voultar's cause fast shipping)

and then connect it to 8pin din like these scheme

is that correct? I'm missing sometime?

any help is really appreciate it!

EDIT:
-add lines to the 8din pin connector:
5v
ground

Anyone know of a THS7374 open source amp for pc engine?

Also isn't this a sync issue, don't you have to strip the sync out of comp?

I tried also take sync directly from pin #2, and got the same results

as these image shows from were take RGB, sync and 5v

Image

8bitplus take sync from rca yellow connector http://8bitplus.co.uk/your-consoles/phi ... 0-rgb-mod/

I wrote him, he gave me the idea that maybe amp in pce chip is too strong, so I need to try attenuate it with 180 ohm resistors in rgb lines. Ill try that and post results

finally success!

Final Pics of my install, it was the point from were I was taking 5v in the motherboard, the integrated strip from the cable wasn't able to make his job, change the source of voltage and get it working.
