Wanting to RGB mod a JVC TM-A13SU, need help

Post by flipcrazy.inc »

I guess some kind of introduction would be nice. Hi, I'm Flipcrazy, and I've been chasing after a PVM for years. After talking to the people who run the Pappa Johns next to the Cell Phone Repair store (henceforth referred to as CPR store) where I work, I was able to buy their CRT security monitor, a JVC TM-A13SU, for $20 (I'll probably be getting the wall mount tomorrow). It was dusty as hell, there is mild burn-in, the picture is really dark, and it sadly doesn't have RGB, but I'm still really happy to have it. I figured the picture being dark may be due to some capacitors that have gone bad, thankfully the CPR store where I work has a really good soldering station and all kinds of capacitors, so I should be able to recap it fairly easily. While I have the TV open, I want to add an RGB Scart input to the back of the tv, hopefully with integrated audio, although If I can't get audio then it's no big deal. The good news is that my soldering skills should be good enough for this mod if I can do an Xbox One HDMI Port repair I should be able to do any of the soldering required, the bad news is I've never done any type of CRT mod before, let alone an RGB mod. Ultra technical schematics like CRT service manuals also make me cross-eyed and confused. from looking at the service manual for this tv, however, I believe I was able to identify the jungle chip and it's associated RGB input lines, going to pins 23, 24, and 25. Since I've never done any kind of CRT RGB mod before, I wanted to case anyone who's done one of these mods before for help and information. Anything like a parts list, general tips, and especially help figuring out the more technical side of things would be vastly appreciated. Anyways If you're reading this line then thank's for reading this whole post, it means a lot. Here's the service manual for the CRT, hosted on my Google drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1szApVu ... sp=sharing

Isn't this basically the US equivalent of the TM-A14PN/TM-A140PN from Europe? The schematics looks a lot like it, and it uses the same jungle IC (the TB1226EN). If it is like the A140PN, you need I2C interception. I have a complete guide for it here: https://immerhax.com/?p=185

You can try without the Arduino to start with, and see if it exhibits the same issues.

Good luck! The JVC TM-A13SU is a killer monitor, you are lucky to have one.

Forget about Sony PVMs : you have a coveted monitor in your hands
