Macbook Pro to PVM + 1080ti

Post by dwarfappletree »

I have a 2016 Macbook Pro connected to a Flanders CM250 over thunderbolt>sdi, and a eGPU running an Nvidia 1080ti with 2 HDMI ports, 2 Displayports, and a DVI port. Recently acquired a Sony PVM 1943M with component in, but trying to tackle the 15kz problem and getting a 240p or 480p signal into it is challenging. I've searched for a lot of answers here but couldn't find one specific to this configuration so I thought I'd ask.

Right now I'm failing at using one of the displayports out of the 1080ti converting it to vga and then component with no signal to the PVM whatsoever. About to buy an HDMI to component box from Amazon to see if that will at least make the monitor be recognized by the computer. Once I get it to recognize, then I will attempt to modify the output to 15kz or run SwitchResX to see if I can get it running perfectly.

My goal is to use this PVM as a second monitor to drag videos onto to play at a pixel perfect resolution, such at 640x480 or 320x240, and capture those videos on the CRT with a 4k camera from across the room. I'd love to be able to create that pixel perfect content in After Effects or Premiere and have them represented on the screen perfectly, so resolution accuracy is important. Annoyingly, I have a mini displayport to RCA adapter that works just fine, but its blurry af and not really why I got a PVM. Would love to output a clean rgb signal if possible.

With these multiple outputs - thunderbolt 3, thunderbolt 2, mini displayport, displayport, hdmi, dvi, and sdi - is there a surefire workflow to get this monitor to recognize a signal from my computer?

Thank you al!
