Pioneer PDP V402 vs 401

Post by alfshusen »

What is the difference between Pioneer PDP V402 and Pioneer PDP V401. Does the 401 support 240P 15khz like the 402?

In general both are fine. The 402 has a darker panel which works out to better black level (still shit of course, but better than on the 401). Both accept 15khz. It's possible that you require clean sync on the 401 - it's been so long, I don't remember.

Ok thanks. I am about to buy one and I can get a working 401 or 2 402's that needs repair. I see that ebay has a lot of parts for sale cheap. Do you think pdp 402's are hard to repair. They turn on, but switches off right away. I was informed that it was a fault to its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it.

If you have no idea where to start I would say it's next to impossible. All you can try to exchange board for board and hope it helps...

In Europe they sell for around 200 euro. But recently one shifted hands for only 100 euro

Do you know where to look for one in Europe. I frequently search the net, but the ads I find are either outdated or already sold. If not, they are local pickup only :(
I might get a 401 from US now, but I eventually want 402, preferably from EU so I get 220V.

Fudoh: In your post about old display technology, you mention when talking about the V402 that you previously owned a V401 and that the one thing the 402 heavily improved upon was the handling of 15khz sources.
What improvements are we talking about here?

Mostly on forums actually. Nozomi.nl had one a month ago. You can contact Psykick there, he might have one left.

Some online shops in Germany sometimes have them (from what I hear).

Local pickup is a problem yes, I had to do that with both of my 402's, worth it though!!
