Here is my opinion on a game I played a lot in MAME called Mega Blast released in 1989 by Taito. It was awesome because of the following things:
1.It had excellent graphics with lots of zooming effects on some of the bosses as well as excellent music that could be ported flawlessly to Super Famicom especially the 3 level's music which is creepy music heard in a cave as well as the music heard in the ending which was the same music heard in the closing credits of the original Die Hard.
2.The gameplay was excellent because it was much easier than most horizontal shooter released in 1989 like Darius II and you could shoot in 4 different directions and there were 8 levels including underwater ruins and a city at nighttime.
3.There are 8 different bosses including a boss that looks like the letter H called "Wonder H" as well as a giant robot called "Big Robot" who is ultra hard and fires a truckload of bullets at you as well as cameo appearances of the car from Raimais, Doh from Arkanoid, the chicken from Chack'n Pop and Bust-A-Move 2, as well as the bubble dragon from Bubble Bobble as midbosses.
I think this was an excellent shooter from Taito and I wish that they ported it to Super Nintendo or PC Engine CD in 1991 or Sega Saturn in 1996.

Yeah, this is a strange one. I didn't think it was much good, which is probably why it seems to have been lost in time.
Early on, the enemies were firing masses of homing missiles that were hard to dodge and that blocked your shots. Playing through these sections just felt stupid and wrong.
Then you fight the giant metal Chack'n.
