Hi guys, does someone know if with these accessory xmd-1 the rgb signal amp is possible ?
I've both but don't know if only works to change connector from 8-pin U shape to C shape, also noted that xmd-1 doesn't works with my sony pvm and xrgb mini, maybe xmd-1 is taking out csync or my xmd-1 is broken?
rgb from console directly works fine but as usual its a signal attenuated with colors very dark, and I want to be able to use these console with nice rgb image, in case that xmd-1 cant works what other options i have? adapteur rvb? bypass internal mod?
thanks
UPDATE
I internally modded the XMD-1, info on these topic: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66907&p=1418358#p1418358

Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
For the Mark III you will need to mod it with an internal RGB amp or use the French SCART cable since it has an included amp. The Mark III doesn’t have any amplification going on with its RGB signals, they go straight from the VDP to the DIN jack.
Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
Do you know if The xmd-1 has amplification?
Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
I think the XMD-1 is just a passthrough and doesn't do any kind of amplification or conversion, since it's mainly intended to allow for a Mega Drive to be connected to certain computer monitors that accept 15 kHz input.
Since you have one, can you take it apart and post pics of the internals? I couldn't find anything save the back of the box when I was doing research.

XMD-1 is just pinout changer. Created as Sega didnt sell RGB cables for MD. The din8 output uses the MSX standard, which were easy to find in those days.
Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
here we go

these is the image I got, with xmd-1, using a csync cable in pvm:

also noted, using a voltimeter that it doesn't follow these pattern:

update:
so i guess these cable would work with xmd-1 and pvm or xrgb-mini?
UPDATE 2:
these guy using port 15 pin out--->AD-D15NE→VGA->BN were able to connect it to pvm

its difficult to read, I've to use google translate
also other guy uses similar setup in these video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8pdbu98MMo
here are some info about the toshiba chip: https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/1258 ... 4HC132AP/1

Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
Standard MSX cable should be fine when using it on a MegaDrive. Mark III/Master System might still need an amp though.
As the signals are much weaker.
For the 15pin output, notice the Towns switch on the bottom. Towns mode will change the output to RGBS with Sync on Pin 7,
while standard mode is NEC/Sharp pinout RGBHV with Sync on pins 14 and 15 iirc.

Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
Ok, So in conclusion , xmd-1 doesnt amp signals, and its possible to use it with pvm trought port 15 with ad-d15ne—vga—-bcn.
That leave only internal mod or adapteur rvb as options
Is there a guide to install an rgb amp for these console? Im thinking buy a sega bypass from voultar

I used one before in a usa sms to get better signal free of jailbars

Re: Sega mark III and rgb xmd-1
The VDP in the Mark III is exactly the same as that used in the overseas SMS, so an RGB bypass board would work just fine.
