Looks interesting. I wonder how it plays.

The video makes it look a bit like Mario 2 (US) to me.

When you just look at that one screen it really looks like a cheap fake. Still, a 2D platformer on an actual console? Holy shit.

Also, Yossy Eyeland 2!

So much 2D platformer goodness out of nowhere.

When I first looked at this thread I thought it was a fake. It looks like some homemade flash from newgrounds.

Then I saw that it's from the offical Nintendo website.

Whats going on.

The bit's where you see the levels side on looks horrible.

Well we all wanted a new 2D Mario on a home console. Did we think it might look this crap? No, I like bits of it. One to watch.

I'm currently pretty interested to see the new 3D Mario.

Did you watch the video? The game looks great. Screenshots don't really do it justice.

Yeah you're right it does look a bit better in the video. I don't like that side on view of the level though thats a bit wrong. Shirley that will make the pace of the level a bit weird.

But still a new console 2D Mario, thats a bit wild.

I think I just had an orgasm even if that pic looks fake. Why is it listed as Super Paper Mario? Makes me think it'll be an RPG in the end.

I really love the graphical style, the regular sprites look like they have been taken straight out of an old NES mario game manual or Nintendo Power mag from somewhere in the mid-90s, then there's the giant sprites which resembles SMB on the NES and the great looking original backgrounds, I like the background shown in the pic in this thread (and in last part of the movie) in particular, it has that retro thing going on, remember those old toy 'boxes' that had pictures that would 'animate' if you turned them, I think that's genius.
The gameplay seems rather oldskoolish, back to quality 2d platforming, great!
Come to think of it I actually find this game the most interesting one presented on E3.

I like how the sites are spinning this: "Nintendo reaffirms continuing GC support." Just one goddamn game does not mean continuing support. It means one more game.

It's called Super Paper Mario because it uses Paper Mario graphics. The gameplay, from what little we've seen, is 100% pure platformer.

And no, the pic isn't fake. Gamespot has a video of it.

Cereal Killer: "I want it."

Phreak: "I want it to have my children!"

Seriously, though. I am a GC owner & will have that game. It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

And a Donkey Kong game.
Sadly Kirby seems to be cancelled .
Also Nintendo is publishing Baten Kaitos 2

That means four "hopefully" awesome games + Rajirugi that more then I expected out of my gamecube after Odama and Chini robo where announced. Hooray for me!

fake edit: holy shit it even looks better on video, paper mario+kenta cho?? nintendo got me soooooo sold.

and i am faaar from a nintendo fanboy, quite the opposite, i think N64 and GC was mostly rubbish, but DS is super rad and everything they show at E3 is genious, seriously.

Man it looks awesome. Shame it's not coming out for the Wii, you could point mario along. Shake the control, he'll throw a fireball. Or more likely a fire square.

You should be able to point at Mario, he'll point back at you. Hilarious. That player to console connection. We (Wii)
