I've been playing these two games back to back recently. They are pretty much the same game with different graphics, but both are good fun nonetheless.
I am wondering whether the first three stages (which are in random sequence every time you play, out of four possible stages) maintain the same difficulty level regardless of the order in which you encounter them.
To me, they seem to be exactly the same.

In Sengoku Ace this should be easy to notice, the smaller enemies shoot a bit more complicated patterns and the boss' patterns are more tight and fast. Might have more hitpoints too. The differences aren't as severe as in Gunbird 2 or Dragon Blaze, but they're there.
Sonic Wings games are generally a good bit easier than Psikyo's works. Though there's rank there, its effects are very minor.

No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Cool, thanks for the help. I am going to go back and try to spot the differences.
Note, though, that I am talking about the regular difficulty curve (the difficulty is supposed to increase linearly with every stage) and not about rank effects. I bet rank effects will be muh harder to notice, if they exist.

There are varied difficulties to Video Systems Sonic Wings just like in Psikyo's works. I notice it the most in the Germany/Sweden/whatever level. The level is pretty easy if it's the first one you play. But I've noticed two big differences if it's the 2nd or 3rd stage you play. First, that big building ground turrent that's about 1/3 the way into the level shoots a bunch of little bullets along with the big ones if it's your 2nd or 3rd stage. Also, that boss jet... it's a nightmare with all sorts of extra bullet spreads, again, if it's your 2nd or 3rd stage.
