Need help, broke Saturn Arcade Stick PCB

Post by Himbeertoni »

I was modding my HSS-0136 Virtua Stick today, to get rid of this bad ASCII Stick inside.
I had to destroy the Art unfortunately to get rid of the stick.
So far so good. Next, i was desoldering the buttons that were attached to the PCB, and broke
the PCB on two buttons while removing them.

I need a replacement PCB for the buttons, BUT for Sega Saturn, so Brook PCB for example wont help (PS2/PS3).

I didnt find one yet and i am afraid i ruined this stick and have to buy another one, just to get the original button PCB :(

I have a custom design encoder pcb for the Saturn. Can you solder the wires to it?

Hi sure thing, the button pcb is connected to another pcb with a white ribbon cable, though.

I wonder if can solder the wires directly to the soldered pins.

You can see the missing parts i broke on 2 holes:

Then it would be better to solder the wires from the buttons to those pins. In the past I modded mine like that. However if you want to disable its pcb, then you can use mine. But you can't get autofire.

There is no need to retain the broken PCB.

I am intened to mod mine HSS-0136 too. And my plan is to replace all the buttons with Sanwa's buttons. I would throw away the green PCB which you have broken. And disolder the white ribbon cable from the other PCB (the brown one shown in your photo) and then directly solder the wires (to the button) there.

Before you do that, I think you have to upgrade your desoldering tools. Currently how you do desoldering? I see lots of solder remains at the desoldering points. You are supposed to remove those solder with some tools.

I think you have to at least get somthing like this:
https://www.amazon.com/GBSTORE-Sucking- ... B01K72SBWY

With this tools, you are supposed to heat the solder with the soldering Iron and then suck the melted solder from the PCB with this tool. Repeat until all the solder at the desoldering point is being removed. Then the parts would break loose.

By the way, do you know how to wire the buttons without the green PCB?

If not, I could send you the green PCB of my HSS-0136 if you like.

Hi there and thank you for your help! Sadly i used a cheap iron w/o any desoldering tool, but this will
change soon since i will upgrade my gear. As for the wiring, that was my plan yes i think i can figure this
out thing is you have to ground all button wires in a daisy chain and then connect it to one point of the white
cables. I will get rid of the pcb, too since it looks way cleaner to mod it like that though you wont see it from
the outside. Cheers
