I'm somewhat confused as to why my DVDO Edge works differently than my DVDO VP30. The VP30 acts as I would expect. The Edge exhibits this behaviour.
OSSC Wii 480p @ 2x into Edge.
Detected as expected:
Edge set to output 480p:
Out to Tendak (I've tried 2 models) HDMI to VGA into Extron 203rxi:
This is where the chain fails as the next step is an Extron Emotia, and it doesn't like this combo.
When I use a DVDO VP30 with the same settings the output is read as 31kHz and passes to the Emotia. What's going on here? Is there a setting I'm overlooking?
How do you get from the Dell output snapshot to the Extron snapshot? Are you using a HDMI spitter or matrix?
The complete output section along with available resolutions on the Edge is EDID based, so when you shut down the Edge will the Dell connected and power it up again with the Tendak in its place, you might not the same results, since the output settings have changed at this point already.
I would try to memorize how to access and set the Edge's output blindly and then try again. If you can see the Extron's info display changing the horizontal scan rate, you know you're doing something right. Then it's just about finding a compatible output resolution (try XGA).
So this is just an anecdote but when I had an Edge I found it to be a lot less useful and more rigid than the others. I sold it because it couldn't output at the resolution I wanted it to.

in theory it can, but it doesn't have a programmable output selection. Instead you can add custom resolutions using a programmable EDID emulator.
Interesting and good to know at least. I've got a Lumagen that does what I want for that set-up and managed to get a Harmony remote working with it thankfully.

Ahh--I left out an important step. I was powering down the Dell monitor (I've fried HDMI ports before hot-plugging) and then plugging HDMI into the Tendak.
Swapping the HDMI from the Dell to the Tendak without powering down, results in the signal staying 31kHz...most of the time. Sometimes it starts there and then bumps up to 48. I don't have this problem with the VP30.

I'm finding the same thing. The VP30 exposes a lot more options for dealing with aspect ratios.
