"Wyvern/Wivern Wings"

I dropped by my school to see if there's anything new, and lo and behold, there's a new shmup machine. Gave it a couple of tries.

I thought the name says Cyvern Wings, but I couldn't find that name on Malc's site. I looked up gamefaqs, and there's a Wivern Wings, by SemiCom, which I thought I saw on the logo screen.

The game title screen has a F-16. You have four planes to choose from. Four different functions for the buttons. Regular shots(A), barrier for defense(B), a bomb(C), and some crazy thing where you hold B + C together.

I got owned. I don't think I've ever not beaten the first level when I play a new shmup. But I lost at the boss(a big tank). Somehow I didn't use bombs or the barrier(which is a big shield that blocks all bullets).

Anyone else have experience with this game? Thanks.

Edit: Edited title, and mistake. That mistake being I couldn't find "Cyvern Wings" on Malc's site, because there's no such thing!" :P Everything is cleared up now.

haven't played it. only know about it because of this post. looks like it could be though cool

lucky IlMrm. i can't imagine walking around my home-town and stumbling upon a shmup machine. :cry:

This game is awful. It's a bad Psikyo/ RF ripoff. I remember it having a lot of problems.

The name is either "Wyvern Wings" or "Wivern Wings". I've got scans of flyers with it spelled both ways. One published by Semicom, the other by GameVision.

It looks very Psikyo-ish, yes.

There was a shmups thread a while back on it. I've even got a copy.

I don't know how I confused a W with a C. :oops:

My initial impression is your plane seems sluggish(maybe it's the sticks). Also your plane seems underpowered, thus leaving many enemies on the screen(even small tanks) and they keep filling the screen with shots. But I'll have to play it more to pass final judgement.

I am intrigued by the use of the barrier. I'll give it another try someday.
