I recently got a single board copy of RFJ from a seller in China. It arrived in a crushed box after two months. The PCB didn’t look terrible when I unpacked it but sure enough it didn’t power up when I fired up my HAS Supergun. After fiddling with it a while I pulled all the EPROMs and cleaned the badly corroded legs. After reseating them I discovered that If I push down hard on RFJ-07 and 08 the game fires right up. It will freeze as soon as I remove my hand.
I’ve visually inspected all the ics and can’t really find anything wrong. I couldn’t find any broken traces on the back of the board. I could really use some ideas.
Thanks!

Sounds like those chips need a re-flow of solder. Depending on how small they are, you may need a magnifying glass to see if all the connections are being made, an multi-meter would help as well.Danexmurder wrote:I recently got a single board copy of RFJ from a seller in China. Yeah, I was hoping it was a situation where it's like "Oh, if you have to flex the board to get it to work then it's probably X" situations. Seems like it won't be anything that simple. Going to pull the eproms in the offending area tonight and reflow all the sockets. I tested a good bit of them with a multimeter though and I got contact on each leg of the eprom and the underside of the board. Guess I'll have to go through it one by one.
