I'll be going to Hong-Kong for my job in a week, so I was wondering what places might be interesting shmup-wise, or video-games related in general ?
Any arcades worth seeing ?
I suppose I'll go pay a visit and pick up a few things at the well known arcade stuff resellers there, but that's all for now and I'm sure there's much more.
Thanks !

SAM should be the expert...
I don't know where to get PCBs since I hadn't started collecting last time I was there.
But for video game related stuff in general, you should go treasure hunting in Golden Shopping Arcade. It will take a lot of effort scouring but you should be able to find even some good Saturn and PCE titles, among a lot of newer stuff.
My favourite arcade while I was there was under the big boat in Hung Hom, it had HKD$2 Ketsui. I don't know if it's still there.

I was there for 10 days last summer, and I spent one night wandering around Wan Chai and playing games in a couple of arcades there. I don't remember their names or their exact locations, but I found them after about 5-10 minutes of walking around. You will definitely have a good time there.
Funny thing is, smoking was prohibited in those two arcades, and there were big signs saying you would get fined for smoking, but everyone was still puffing away.

Hong Kong's Acrade centers actuall got very little shmups cab, most got only one at most two.ReKleSS wrote:There was an excellent arcade sam pointed me to, in the mall next to Tsuen Wan station. Mushi, Ikaruga, Ibara, ESPGaluda 2 and probably something else when I was there in March, all 2 or 3 HKD.
That acrade close to Tsuen Wan Underground Rail station is an exception, what actually happening is, those shmups games there were owned by some local shmups fans. They make a deal with the acrade owner to put their boards within the cabs there. This way, they could hopefully recover part of the sum they use to bought the board and let other fellow shmups fans got a chance to enjoy the game.
The truth is there is one and only one Ibara & ESPGaluda 2 board in Hong Kong, and they are there in Tsuen Wan. (And there are only three Mushihime Sama in Hong Kong) If you wish to know how to get there, PM me you eMail address, I think I still have the map.
I might not know all, if you wish to know more about shmups in Hong Kong, you could post here and ask.

Just post in English, most member there could read English. But be remember to told them that you couldn't read Chinese, otherwise they would reply you in Chinese.
P.S. - STG = Shooting Game = Shmups
Yes, people there don't smoke in the acrade.ReKleSS wrote:Also, there was no smoking there, but my ears felt funny when I left....
You could found most of the recent titles in Golden Shopping Acrade, but if you are looking for Saturn/PCE or PCBs you have to look elsewhere.ReKleSS wrote:But for video game related stuff in general, you should go treasure hunting in Golden Shopping Arcade. If you are looking for PCBs or acrade meachine parts, you could contact Wai Lee Video Amusement Co. (www.wailee.com). They are one of the largest acrade meachine supplyer over here. Or you could also visit excelent.com in person.
Saturn, PCE, MD, SFC titles, I think there are a few good stores in Mong Kok.
