This is one of those things I found a while ago but kept forgetting to post. The Japanese (I think a US version got announced?) version of Space Invaders for the PSP has a really bad bug on the final boss in Space Invaders 95 / Majestic 12. I'm not sure if one of his attacks doesn't display properly or if the game suddenly loses the ability to detect collisions properly, but all of a sudden you start taking damage and dying while fighting him without actually getting hit by anything. It's still possible to beat the game if you're lucky - I managed after a few continues and fortune smiling upon me - but it's really annoying nonetheless.
This only affects the final boss - none of the other levels or bosses are affected. Also, it happens regardless of whether you're in regular or tate mode.

I've noticed this myself too- shame. I could have sworn on a stack of Bibles that the bullet didn't hit me, but a collision still registers.
This boss is NOT in the arcade game (thank goodness!).
In Return of the Invaders, I've noticed that the regular invaders are all worth 100 points (not 100, 200, and 300 as in the arcade).
There are some issues in the ports of the later SI games. Akkanvader isn't perfect either. I don't think Taito may have given SI Pocket as much TLC as they did the Memories packs.

Necro-threading. Does anyone have footage of this supposedly psp-exclusive final boss?
Also mentioned here: viewtopic.php?p=37667#p37667
Was it ever reused in any other compilation?

Ugh, I really hope that Taito hasn’t use the same emulator on the switch version for its Invincible Collection but seeing how things are turning out recently I wouldn’t be surprised

Naah, I'd say the chances are low.
After this Pocket there was the Taito Legends on PS2, I guess the emulation if anything would come from there.
...Which obviously make this last boss (and special bonus stage) even more intriguing now.

I'm quoting from the other thread because one necro-thread is enough. I'm more confused than before. I did credit feed my UMD and fought a final snake boss with two arms. Then I got a message about e new enemy approaching the earth... I suppose that's referring to the other boss, but how do I trigger it exactly? 1cc? How do you see MJ-12 second ("good") ending?gameoverDude in the other thread wrote:The port of Majestic 12 is perfect with some changes- a different final boss and a new scaling sprite bonus round with a Space Harrier/Night Striker perspective (you'll see this closer to the final stages). This one requires you to down the enemy within a time limit, getting 5,000 points per second remaining.
On the PCB version, the final boss is a cakewalk. The new endboss in the PSP MJ12 is a bast.

Crate guy, MJ-12 Good end: https://youtu.be/nvJ5eaxdWKA
These videos for the US version (no stage select) shows a different boss altogether: a boxed metal crate of sort. You actually get to fight both bosses in one playthrough:

This video of the amiga conversion shows both bosses, Snake arm guy and metal crate guy, following a fade out:

So if both are from the original game, does the PSP really have an exclusive boss? Or were people deceived by the regional differences between SSI'91 and MJ-12?
Is there really a third boss incarnation exclusive to PSP? Or is it most likely an urban legend?
