Hello,
I recently purchased Raiden IV Overkill from GOG, after reading on the Wine AppDB (https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=33348) that it has 'platinum' status, indicating that it runs flawlessly with it.
However, this isn't the case. I can start up the game, I can watch the intro video, but after that the screen turns black and I only hear sound.
I can run tons of other modern games just fine, such as Raiden III, Crimzon Clover, Astebreed, KOF XIII... just not Raiden IV.
I'm using a 32-bit prefix, which has vcrun6, vcrun2012, vcrun2013, devenum and d3dx9 installed.
Anybody here able to help?

Re: Raiden IV in Wine
WINE is a fickle beast. There are often a lot of things to consider including the version you're using. Sometimes I have to set up games with PlayOnLinux just to run an earlier version of WINE before they broke support in a later build. Perhaps you should start with making sure you're running v1.9.3 like the WineHQ entry says was used?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Could just be my hardware, but are meteors on special mission 2 and the final stage invisible for anyone else?

Some things you could try (in order). I'm really just spitballing here, I'm not a wine expert.
- Launch game from terminal. See if the output gives you any clues as to why the issue occurs
- Use an older version of WINE. (2.0 is reported to work for raiden IV). PlayonLinux is a really great way to go for managing wine versions and other stuff
- is Raiden IV a DirectX 10 game? if so, install d3dx10 AND use a current version of wine AND set the windows version to Windows 7 or 10. Alternatively, you may be able to set the game to try to use DirectX 9; https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/641
- make sure all d3dx9_# variants are installed
- fiddle with DirectDraw Renderer type - OpenGL, GDI (Black screen issue solution for https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=14410)
- give VC Run 2010 a try. I've seen claims that this is all you need for Visual C
- install 'd3dcompiler_43' (I had to install this to run ZeroRanger in wine)

Re: Raiden IV in Wine
Note: Steam port of Raiden IV is an OpenGL game and wine just passes through openGL calls to your host implementation.
If you're trying to use wine on macOS this means Raiden IV doesn't work
