Shikigami no Shiro III on Windows 10

Post by marus »

So I just built a new PC and finally upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. I'm currently in the process of installing some of my favorite games. I've gotten most to work after some tinkering but I haven't found a way to get Shikigami no Shiro III to work. I know that the game uses Securom or Safedisk or one of those older DRMs, which no longer work on Windows 10. Has anyone managed to get this game to run on Windows 10?

I haven't tried, but an alternative would be to emulate the Wii port in Dolphin.

Yeah, I'm really hoping to get the actual PC version to work but if that can't be done then I might just have to have to play one of the other versions from here on out.

You can do it but it's a bit complicated - viewtopic.php?p=1255217#p1255217

The games already have a PC version, so I guess they can base this newest port on that, though Shikigami no Shiro 3's PC port can't work on Win7 anymore unless you disable a Windows security thingy [EDIT : Actually, if I read that correctly it doesn't work on later Windows OSes at all but can be played in Win7 by deactivating the thing] so there would be that to fix. (besides, Shiki 3's PC port does not feature the Dramatic Change Mode)
It works the same on Windows 8 as on Windows 7.

You can get it working in Windows 10 too by using a Windows 8 version of the secdrv.sys driver, self signing it and running Windows 10 in test mode. It's a bit complicated though, so maybe don't try unless you know what you're doing.

Shikigami no Shiro III runs pretty well with dgVoodoo2 allowing you to play the game in higher resolutions than the game supported.

You could also try running VirtualBox, and then run Win7 (or older) as a VM, and run it that way.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Kane, please let me know if you manage to crack the exe! Otherwise I'll give installing the Securom driver a shot. I'd rather not have to boot up a VM every time I want to play but I'll keep that in mind as a last resort.

I don't think I did anything special but it runs on my windows 10 setup. I do have the cd in the tray at all times when I play though.
