My uncle gave me an Apple IIc with a bunch of games including Barbarian and Choplifter. That was my first computer. That must have been sometime around 86.

My first console was a Master System, which I kept for a couple of months before giving it to a friend and getting a Mega Drive.

Those were the days, etc.

Shared a Commodore +4, a Commodore 64 and an Amiga with my bro.

My first own system was a Megadrive with Sonic.
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

First console I had was a 2600 which I inherited from a cousin who got sick of it back in early 1986, but the first new console I got was a master system. Yep, I was one of the suckers who made the wrong choice to get a SMS because a couple of my friends had that, and not the NES.

SMS was still good, and I had great games for it, but yeah, I never had an NES  . Oh well, I played my fill of it at everybody else's homes, so no big loss.

Mine was a Gameboy. My parents never let me get a console because they were afraid I would monopolize the TV (like I monopolized our home computer). I saved up the money for a GB & bought it w/ my own cash, & my parents bought me Castlevania Adventure for my birthday at the same time. I then bought Super Mario Land from a buddy & it was all over. I had already beat the game several times over on a friend's GB, but having it myself was incredible. After that, it was gametime all the time.

The first console in my house was an Atari 2600. My father bought it in the same year I was born, so I can hardly call it mine.

When I was 3 years old, my father bought the MSX, which was also "For the family". 3 years later my parents divorced, and the MSX was solely mine :) .

My Amiga was the first machine that I owned which was mine since the start. But it was an Xmas gift.

The first system I bought from my working money was my Sega Saturn, followed by my PSone. (Though the PSone arrived before the Saturn :) )

Sega Master System with Hang On (which came with the system). In 1987, I wanted an Atari 2600 for Christmas, but my parents bought me the SMS, a system of which I hadn't even heard before. I still can't thank them enough for that.

The first additional games I bought for my SMS were the 2 in 1 cart with Astro Warrior and Pit Pot. (Games were expensive and I had little money as a kid, so I just couldn't refuse getting two games for the price of one.)

There were several "shared" systems in the house before it, but IIRC the first system I ever bought for my "exclusive" use was my Saturn, around the time I joined this forum...the first 2 games I bought for it (that didn't come with the system) were DoDonPachi and Cotton Boomerang.

I wanted to win, to beat the game then, I like games that I could lever up and continue when I was small. Really a contrast to now. :o Only manage to get to the 4 stage after dying a thousands times in Kyukyoku Tiger.
Oh man, I feel your pain. G'NG, Tiger Heli and Kid Icarus were a couple of my first NES games. Definitely didn't have as much fun with them as I thought I would.

Although it was originally supposed to be for everyone, the Sinclair ZX Spectrum I cut my computational teeth on ended up being exclusively mine in short order ;) So, that. The first I ever paid for with my own money, though, was the Super NES.

The first system I owned was the Atari 2600. Some of my first games were Defender, Pac-Man, ET, Laser Blast, and Asteroids. I don't have the same 2600 I grew up with (I actually got the Sears Video System recently), but I still have the games and I have gotten more games since then. I actually got a 7800 before I got a NES.

I also had an Atari 800 XL with games like Centipede, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong, but I don't remember if I had it before or after the 2600.

The first game I ever played was Super Mario Bros. on the NES, but the system was for my brother and I to share.

The first system that was mine alone was the Gameboy, which came with Tetris. It was the best Christmas present ever.

Odyssey 2 with Baseball and some other game. I can barely remember that one though. Mattel Football and Tandy Cosmic 3000 Fire Away after that probably.

I had an NES and Ducktales. Except, I didn't actually get into playing games until much later. I just liked watching my brother beat them.

My first system was a PS1. I bought a PS1 pack that included Twisted Metal 2 and Spyro the Dragon. TW2 ended up becoming one of my all time favorite games, while Spyro was also an amazing game. The first game I bought by itself was the directors cut of Resident Evil. This game scarred the crap out of me back in the day, and it also introduced me to one of my favorite game series.

Just thinking about my PS1 days brings a tear to my eye. I don't think I'll ever have as much fun playing video games as I did back then. I'm not sure what it was, but I could play the same PS1 game for hundreds of hours and never get bored of it. Now, I'm lucky if I play a game for over a couple of weeks.

The first system we had in the house was the Odyssey. But, the first console we bought and I played was the Intellivsion. In fact my Intel is still hooked up in my game room and still sees use.
