3DO MNEMO need help accessing console BIOS

Post by Rock Man »

I have the USB Host installed for a Japanese FZ-1. The issue is though, I am having trouble finding the original "Insert Disc" screen.

I'm trying to regain access to what's seen here: https://youtu.be/gjDlCjLOtS0

I know it's still there because I accessed it by accident once while the MNEMO Host was hooked up.

After reading this: http://nowab.blogspot.com/2018/09/3do-f ... eview.html

"To make the 3DO memory manager accessible, write a blank file to the USB drive. Basically any file you try to launch with "A" which isn't a valid game disc image will make the 3DO think there's no disc in the drive and give you access to the storage manager. So if you create a blank text file and name it "Launch Storage Manager", selecting it from the menu and hitting "A" will bring you to the "Insert Disc" prompt, from which you can hit "X" or "Stop" to open the Storage Manager."

Tried making a blank txt file to remote in but all I got was a black screen. The reason why I want access to the original bios screen is I like the look of it. It's not a dealbreaker if I can't get it back the MNEMO is much preferred however If I can have my cake and eat it I'm emptying the whole friggin bakery.

What would happen if you instead used an ISO file of a game from another console - a Sega CD title for example? Since the 3DO can't read those as a proper game, would it default to the boot menu?

All I get is a black screen too hey, that process never worked for me.

Also the first time I try to boot a game it doesn't work, i need to reset then try again to play a game.

That's annoying as fuck. Try a different flashdrive with the launch BIOS or reinserting your ribbon cables in the MNEMO.

That's disappointing. I suppose if you wanted to access the memory manager then you can load an ISO for a game that will allow you to manage it when it's full (if I remember correctly, Alone in the Dark and Wolfenstein 3D are ones that let you do it). Or, load up the Game Guru ISO, I believe that gives you memory management capabilities too.

But yeah, I've always enjoyed the flying rocks screen. Looks cool and it's good background noise when you're working on other things. :D

Yeah I'm not concerned about memory manager. I downloaded the Game Guru ISO for that a while back. It's moreso I want the old BIOS screen back for aesthetic reasons. It looks fly and it would be a nice show piece when company comes over. Especially when you couple that screen with the mod. The fact that MNEMO himself hasn't posted a way to get back in is bonkers to me. You'd think the method to getting there would've been included in the guide.
