HAS + DVDO VP50 ?
How best to connect a HAS supergun to a DVDO VP50 scaler?
Re: HAS + DVDO VP50 ?
The best way is not to do that, since the VP50 has no proper 240p handling.
Technically you use a RGBs breakout cable with 4 or 6 RCA plugs (4 for video, 2 for audio). You can use either of the component inputs along with the composite input next to it (for sync). You just have to set the port on the VP50 to RGB instead of YPbPr

Does this mean I can't play 240p PCBs through the VP50 Pro?
Otherwise is there a 4 RCA plug output cable I can connect directly to the HAS?

Is it a VP50 or a VP50Pro? These perform very differently.Does this mean I can't play 240p PCBs through the VP50 Pro?
VP50 treats 240p as 480i which look ok'ish, but gives you combing problems. VP50Pro treats 240p as 240p, but the scaling is terrible. You would be MUCH happier with just grabbing a Retrotink 2x (the RGB version) and double to 480p using that. If you want to further upscale the 480p signal you use the VP50/Pro,

Ouch, it sounds like I should steer clear of the VP50 and VP50 Pro. I have an OSSC but I was under the impression that the VP50 / VP50 Pro was the ultimate scaler.
Plus my monitor is 1600x1200 and now that I look more closely I'm not even sure the VP50 can output that res.

For your sources the DVDO get nowhere close to an OSSC. You might consider a DVDO, if either your display isn't compatible with the OSSC or if you have a good number of 480i sources. The DVDOs offer great 480i video deinterlacing. In short: if the OSSC works fine with your display(s) and you don't have a good reason why you want to upgrade your deinterlacing, then you don't need a DVDO.
The 50Pro can definitely output up to 1920x1200. I think the VP50 can as well, but you need to create a custom resolution to do so, it's not a resolution that's listed under the standard output options.
