Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
The language used for the title of the game (
) and much of the in-game text seems like a made-up language to me, or at least one I've never seen before. It's certainly not Japanese. In the URL, the download file name, and the YouTube video title (i.e. places where the title text image can't be used), the name is just depicted with a series of underscores, so it seems like the creator is intentionally leaving the name "untranslated."

Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
Basically you spam that image everywhere, yeah. Maybe someone can make a
font, as the game likely has every character.

Rage Pro, Rage Fury, Rage MAXX!
Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
Yeah, the name entry has 28 characters in it (as sprites with an outline), so getting the characters isn't too hard (especially since there's a demo). The meaning is the real issue.Despatche wrote:Basically you spam that image everywhere, yeah. Maybe someone can make afont, as the game likely has every character.
The number system is really easy to figure out though, once you throw away the assumption that it must be base 10, because it isn't.
I actually posted a video of the demo in the YouTube thread a little while back. Formation switching in a vertizontal works pretty well, though survival (at least in the stages in the demo) isn't too hard, since your options can get hit instead of you. Option collision can also be used offensively (though it probably isn't necessarily efficient, since they take damage).

We can always start with "Warning", "Continue?" or "The End" screens, right?Meseki wrote:Yeah, the name entry has 28 characters in it (as sprites with an outline), so getting the characters isn't too hard (especially since there's a demo). The meaning is the real issue.

Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
This game is soooooo niche. Only the creator understands what's written in the game.
Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
Ok, forget what I said about trying to decipher that, it is pretty hopless. But we can call this game bz∀sd or dz∀sb if you want.
Just so this post won't be completely useless here's some how to play strats that I found. (I'll be calling symbols what they're closest to our alphabet.)
HUD Breakdown

1) That's not and input showcase, well it is, but it's mainly formation selector wheel... thing.
Second button (X by default) changes option formation depending on your movement. For example if you stand still when you press the button, ship will spin and change formation from straight firing "A" to spread "Y", and if moving horizontally, into side covering "X". Needs getting used to but cool. EDIT: It actually also checks if you're not firing for some selections. The symbol in center is highlighted when you're not moving and not firing your weapon. Otherwise the symbol in top-left will take priority.
2) Formation name. Nothing to see here.
3) Ship speed with current formation. Informative, unlike previous point.
4) Formation list. Holy hell! 15+ fire modes. Eat your heart out, Garegga. Bright is current, dark is available, black is unknown. Unknown formation can be found on levels (usually on the sides) by firing at secret spots, just like bees or dogs. Might take some punishment before turning into an actual powerup that you can snag.
5) Power meter. Increases when grabbing green power balls, decreases when your options get hit. Simple. Every 7 or so increases number of options you have. When at max changes shot color to red and does more damage, but that boost last only a few seconds..
Also you receive points every frame when powerup items are being magnetized to you (with green trail visible), but they will pew out of screen after a while if you not grab them in time.

I don't recall losing powerups like that... Then again, releasing shot drastically increases the range of activating the powerup 'magnetizing', so I usually try to keep as many powerups circling me as I can (if I have sufficient options).Ikazu-san wrote:Also you receive points every frame when powerup items are being magnetized to you (with green trail visible), but they will pew out of screen after a while if you not grab them in time.
Though the 12 points per frame per powerup following you is only worth it if you aren't risking deaths/significant mistakes in the process, because that isn't a lot of points.

Looks like Star Soldier. Will try.
EDIT: Lol. Even the score is in that language. It's like the dev said "Hey Japanese people, here's what it feels like to be a Westerner going through our menus".

Some formations can be dropped by certain bosses too.Ikazu-san wrote:Unknown formation can be found on levels (usually on the sides) by firing at secret spots, just like bees or dogs.
After spending some time with version 1.04, I still can't wrap my head around the logic behind how the game determines which formations you can get during a run. I've noticed that sometimes you start a play-through having retained all of the formations that you picked up during previous runs, and other times you start with a blank slate -- only the basic set of formations. More confusingly, I've noticed that formations don't appear in their designated locations every time. For example, there is a formation that should be available near the boss of the first stage, along the left-hand side of the screen. I have a replay of myself clearly picking it up. When I try to get it now, it simply doesn't appear. I have had runs where I was stuck with the basic set of formations. There is nothing I can discern that I am doing as a player to cause the game to behave so inconsistently.
Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
It's usually referred to as "_____" but Murasame himself doesn't refer to it as anything other than his "C87 Winter Comiket STG" (or something vague like that).

So . . ."Long Underscore" then. Great name for a shmup if you ask meElixir wrote:It's usually referred to as "_____" but Murasame himself doesn't refer to it as anything other than his "C87 Winter Comiket STG" (or something vague like that).

Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
The putrid miasma of thread necromancy hangs thick over this one, but I just saw a studio mudprints review of this game, tried the demo and am enjoying it a lot. Love the simple art style and engaging but laid back gameplay. I want to buy the full version but it's only available on CD-rom on a JP site called Akibaoo. I can't seem to enter a european adress there... is there anything I'm missing? Also, I don't have a DVD drive in my pc anymore, but I do have one in an old laptop. Can I just copy the files from the cd to my PC via the laptop (like with the demo) or is there an installation process?
Thanks in advance for any help, and for not minding the stench

Assuming you're okay with a used copy, you can just buy it from Suruga-ya:
https://www.suruga-ya.jp/product/detail/186045214
and ship it via BuySmartJapan by clicking on the banner at the bottom of the page.
For some reason, the English version of Suruga-ya's site claims the item is out of stock:
https://www.suruga-ya.com/en/product/186045214
but there's still one copy remaining according to the Japanese site.
Also, if you hurry and order it before 2019/11/24 13:59 Japan time, you can get a 400円 discount thanks to a time sale on the item that happens to be running right now.
(Note that time sales aren't available when buying from the English version of their site.)
One more thing to note:
BuySmartJapan's system isn't aware of how large or heavy Suruga-ya's items are, therefore its shipping estimate will probably be higher than the actual shipping cost. Thus, if there does turn out to be a wide discrepancy between the two, you may want to contact them and ask for a refund of the difference.

Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
For some reason I thought this one was stuck in dev hell - did it actually see a final physical release or is that the demo?
Re: Anybody know what this Platine Dispositif shmup is calle
Thanks for all the info. Unfortunately the JP site won't let me enter an international address. I suppose I could email them.Winane wrote:Assuming you're okay with a used copy, you can just buy it from Suruga-ya:

I believe this is the physical release.CStarFlare wrote:For some reason I thought this one was stuck in dev hell - did it actually see a final physical release or is that the demo?

That's why you click on the BuySmartJapan banner at the bottom of the page, and buy it through them. (Sorry, I didn't word that clearly before.)auryn wrote: Unfortunately the JP site won't let me enter an international address.
Another thing I should've mentioned:
In general, you can get cheaper shipping by purchasing from the English site, which may or may not outweigh any time sale differences. (Edit: This is only true if you happen to live in one of the regions Suruga-ya can ship directly to, of course, and The Netherlands isn't on that list.) But that's not an option in this case, simply because the English site thinks it's out of stock.

Aha, well now I've gotten in sight of the finish line but for some reason visa wouldn't send me the verification SMS for my card. Weird shit. I need to get some sleep now but will try again tomorrow. [s]Your sleep will cost you 400 yen, as there's only an hour left for the time sale. :/ [/s] [Bleh, no strikethrough on these boards?]
(Edit: Scratch that, I see the time sale was immediately replaced by another time sale, same discount, now ending at 2019/11/24 23:59 JST.)
But good luck completing the purchase!
