Anybody knows this freeware run and gunner?

I'm desperately looking for a freeware game - or at least the name of it - that I've played several years ago and now can't find anywhere on the net:
It was a 8bit style jump and shoot kinda action game...or action platformer if you want;-)
Colorwise it was mainly black and red
In between the levels there were short quotes from a sci-fi novel, maybe Warlords of Mars
I could swear it was called something like Starlord but it seems Google thinks otherwise
