Took a break from DOJ (and shmups in general) for a while but decided to give the game a few runs today and got a new high score for myself.
But thank you.

Ha, I have no skills. I just wait until Lady Luck gets tired of my swearing and decides to grant me a decent score before I post anything.sffan wrote:5 days and 28 mil ? Damn, I've had the game for 2+ years and only reached 20 mil ! What the hell is wrong with me ?!
Anyway, my complements to your skills.

I've also been playing this game for about 5 hours today (well, Sunday). I'm happy enough with my score to post, seeing as how I've hit a new wall in terms of scoring and progress:
Triple Lei - 129,729,750 - A-E - 1-5 - 1449 Hit
(pics removed due to new higher score - see below)
Nice work on the 1st loop clear, chtimi! And actually, I do remember reading about the combo meter bar emptying slower. Possibly from BER.

Stage 2 is starting to come together, but seem to be getting worse at 3 and 4. Switching to A type has helped chaining.

scratch that
ch'timi - 386,099,010 - A-E - 2-1 - 2044 Hit
the 2044 was in stage 5 hence the score. i would have broken 400 if i didn't break the stage 2 combo at the 2 big tanks before the flowers..

What's this? I don't read the forums much anymore so I missed this. I'd rather not have to resort to requiring pics.chtimi wrote:considering the mushihime thread fiasco, i think stahlfeder's score should be removed from this ranking as well.
edit:
also, from now on, let's post score pics with the internet code shown to prove we're on defaults ok?
Pretty sad that anyone would gain satifaction from being the fake leader of a high score board like this.

i meant if we are posting pics in the first place, then we should post them with internet code displayed, because it doesn't cost anything more and shows you were on defaults for the highlighted score. I agree with you that necessarily requiring pics is a bad idea.8 1/2 wrote: What's this? I don't read the forums much anymore so I missed this. I'd rather not have to resort to requiring pics.

i was talking about the score faking drama that was splitted into a "shmups chat" thread "the stahlfeder controversy" or something.
i agree with you that it's sad, it not the first time either, some dude was using save states on cave emulated games (for score runs)

but enough about this, let's talk about doj.
OK, here's the new deal. Anyone posting a score that cracks the top 5 needs to include a screenshot. Once you've done this once you don't need to keep including pics unless you want to. All others will be updated automatically. I'm not going to be too harsh about this, but this is my favorite videogame of all time and I hate the idea of a questionable high score board.
For now I'm going to take off stahlfeder's score until he can come up with a screenshot to prove himself.

This is SOOO depressing... I died with a friggin' HYPER! I thought I could squeeze through a gap I made by luring the bullets to the side, but I didn't make it. I probably should have used it, but I didn't get this far by not taking risks!
As usual, I captured this play session so I'll be uploading the replay just in case people are interested...

Died within pixels of the final boss. Seriously... the music was fading out!
Here's the video of me letting my nerves get the best of me:

(thinking of throwing the replay on YouTube too...)

that place isn't that easy, especially if you want to grab the last bee you have to be aggressive, and it takes a while to read the pattern well.Triple Lei wrote: Died within pixels of the final boss. Seriously... the music was fading out!![]()
yesterday i started 1-5 with 4 hypers but i broke at the usual spot in the bee hive (that left bee with zako coming from the right, forgot to herd them)

that was encouraging the DOJ way.
about your replays, if that's what your asking at the end of stage 5, it is when
the first row of two simultaneous big ships appears that you fuck up: you stay at the bottom of the screen and dodge the blue bullets from the right one there instead of avoiding them completely a bit higher and to the left, then continuing to the left lasering to the inner side of the left one, moving up to grab the bee after that.
the part i said was hard to read was succesfully avoiding the blue bullets, since you're high you have to see them fast. it does become possible with practice though.
