Hey, we were asking for it and there it is: A new 2D Castlevania, that's a good thing. Be happy!
From the little bits you can see now "Portrait of Ruin" doesn't look like Aria/Dawn part 3.
I have an idea for a new Nintendo hardware: A DS Player for Gamecube (or Revolution) which includes a touchscreen controller. I would buy this yesterday.
art bites it big time. i seriously hope that is just the work of some shitty illustrator on staff at nintendo power. already dawn of sorrow was a big step down, let's not sink further konami, ok? ^_^
It looks like the designer from FFTactics and whoever draws Yu-Gi-Oh got together one day and that's the result. And I think it's the official art, not N-power's internal illustrator.
Making a high-end 2D game is going to cost more than a 3D one. Add in the fact that a 3D one is going to sell more, and there is no reason to make 2D games. I mean..even CAVE uses pre-rendered sprites. The best thing to wish for (and it isn't bad) is a game like Viewitful Joe... 3D but on a 2D plane.
I can't stand the fact that it looks like Tetsuya Nomura designed the characters, but it's hardly going to matter in-game. The most we'll see of any of this art is in character portraits.

Not only that, but one of the main characters is a Jonathan Morris, which suggests that the character is probably related in some way to John Morris from Bloodlines.
