PS2 port.

I should get this by the weekend. I don't care if it's spectacular, I just want a new shmup to play.

Edit: Sorry wrong forum. :( [Moved... -TF]

I thought of buying it, but I am a little tight recently.

As I already own the DC version, I might consider not buying this.

I just ordered it. I love the DC version and a) want to see if they changed anything and b) want to support Triangle Service, because I definitely want to see more games from them.

Mine shipped yesterday, should be receiving it next week. I'm very curious whether they cleaned up the slowdown which really helps in some places.

It said it supports 480p at the back, Progressive Scan Mode?!?!

It is the second PS2 Shmups that support progressive scan. :)

What's the first one?

I still haven't played this. I am going to buy the DC version next week, probably.

Would this or Raiden 3 be better? I remember I tried a demo for this game and didn't like it, but apparently it wasn't actually a demo, so...

I actually prefer this to Raiden 3 (probably not win any friends with an opinon like that.) Although Raiden 3 has better production, it lacks the shooting-love that Trizeal has (or any love for that matter.) Raiden 3 is a game by machines, for machines (and yes, I own it and like it, but it will collect a lot of dust before I play it again...)

I didn't like Trizeal at all. I find Raiden 3 fairly uninteresting, but still better than Trizeal.

I'm all for supporting new shmups, particularly DC ones, but they need to actually be good otherwise I'm going to stop buying them (thank god for Under Defeat, is all I can say).

I totally agree. Except that I don't really like Raiden III.

Reading through various websites, it would appear that the Omake Stage is exclusive to the DC port whilst the Shooting Ginokentei minigame is exclusive to the PS2 port (both versions have the Lifting minigame though).

Can anyone confirm that?

Pre-ordered the game, so it should be arriving here soon :). And about it being compared with Raiden III. I think they are both good games, but can't be compared much as they feel and play very different.

I erm... evaluated... the Dreamcast version, but I didn't find it to be exceptional, and I'm not sure if my opinion would be different even if I had spent $60 on it... plus money is going to be extremely tight since I am jobless ATM... and I want Metal Slug 6. All these add up against me getting this game.

:?: I Love Trizeal, but I did not know about any minigames-what are they like?

And what the heck is an omake stage?

"Omake" = Extra or Bonus

At least that's what I've heard. Somebody with actual knowledge of Japanese can confirm or deny that...

Myself, since I've got the DC rev, I'll be skipping this version. No amount of extras will be able to beat lovely, native VGA goodness.

Chaos Field even got a PS2 release. :o Any extra on the PS2 version?

True for most case, but this time the PS2 version support progressive scan. The game would be nearly as good looking as in native VGA on DreamCase. :)

BUT, a big 'but', the PS2 vesion release on a CD-Rom and its loading time between stage is a LOTS longer that a DC GD-Rom. :x

I got to play this last night, I'm not happy with the port.

Tons of slowdown........the battleship "boss" fight at the end of level three friggin crawls.........

Also, on the results screen, you can't hit start to skip it, you need to wait for all the scores to tally.......you can speed them up by holding a button down, but it's still extremely annoying. Also, your score doesn't reset when using a continue (maybe since I only played on very easy???).

What is nice is the omake, which is like a gauntlet of six different "tasks" you need to complete.......and each one allows for you to try for the highest level you can progress to.......so instead of just beating a stage, you are trying to improve your score in each section. Tasks include sniping the right color balloons, or just dodging a bullet hell storm.

I'd stick with the DC version unless you are really craving the omake....
Don't just dodge bullets, dance around them.

You know, it wasn't until 2 nights ago that I finally realized that the sotry page in the DC Trizeal manual is blank... save for one small line of text at the bottom written in English: "The story lies in... you."

About the same as in the DC port then, I'd guess. Which is appreciated as it makes the sections a good bit easier, but it'd be nice to test your skills against full-speed bullets. No Wait On/Off options, then?

This was the same in the DC port.

You continue AND you play on Very Easy? That's it, you're not allowed here anymore. ;)

Omake sounds cool.

Well this sounds exactly like the Dreamcast version, and that is the version I will be comparing with :)
