Thanks for adding my score here. I'll make a note to use this thread from now on ( for future score updates in the next month).

Apologies for being outrageously late with updating. What happened was that I forgot that I *must* always have the last post, otherwise I won't get an email notice.

Getting my PCB board back from repairs made we want to peek at this table, so glad it got sorted. Soon I'm having autofire installed to my cab, so it means I can make an entry to the autofire scoreboard..

Also, Perikles' score entry has been removed.

Why is no one playing this absolutely fantastic game?

Anyway, I beat my old high score! Kinda weird though that I got huge amount less points than those who didn't even get as far. But then again, this game has some peculiar mechanics.

(Arcade, auto)
MJR - 1,371,600 - Area 17

Any key regional differences between North America and Japan on the home cart?

I think that can be mainly explained by the Cleo bonus unlock that gives 1 million points. As for Prales, I vaguely recall him checkpoint milking the stage segment with the columns of 80k bonus tiles, which combined with the Cleo bonus accounts for the even bigger lead.

Here's my old score from Calice
Arcade - Auto ON
M.Knight - 2,152,500 - 13

And totally agree on how great this game is! Simple controls and mechanics but such a variety of encounters and a pace that never gets boring thanks to the dynamic spawning. And it just feels really good to destroy an enemy. The platonic ideal of an old-school shmup.

Ahh that should have been obvious. Sadly, I have never managed to find the Cleo bonus :/ Even though I have checked out the videos and guides how and where to get it.

Yeah it can be tricky to unlock this bonus because of the way the stage backgrounds aren't 100% synced with stage numbers. Since enemy/BG destruction is what advances you through the stages, someone could get this bonus in a different stage than you. It's useful to keep an eye out for the overall background changes throughout the run and stay alert whenever you enter some purple plains. If you see a trilobite landmark on the right side of the screen, you should expect the Cleo location to show up soon, in the next purple plains area, but it's quite possible that a boss fight happens in between just due to enemy kills.

I'm also not sure if a death in the wrong spot could make you skip the location or something like that, as to prevent potential checkpoint milking on that bonus.

Yes, I am aware that enemy wave destruction is what advances backgrounds, and I have seen that purple scenery with trilobite many times.. but Cleo never showed up :(

Anyway, thanks for the hint, still! I need to have the final post here, otherwise I may lose my email alerts
