I am experiencing two problems after my first NES RGB install and would REALLY appreciate some help.
- It is in an NTSC top loader
- I am using an 8 pin din connector and a 3.5 mm jack for audio
- RF out is still intact and usable... could the NES RGB output + the RF out still existing be causing excess heat?
- I had to gently bend the big capacitor at the rear left of the console (when looking at it from the front) away from the back of the console in order to make a little more room for the 3.5mm jack and 8 pin din jack. I did gently bend it away, and it wasn't a ton.
Problem #1: I only get audio out of the 3.5 jack if I have a controller plugged in. In other words... if no controller is plugged in there is no audio.

Problem #2 (the bigger problem of the two): the video is perfect but after about 15-20 minutes the graphics start slowly deteriorating (sprites glitching and things turning odd colors) until the NES just resets on its own. Here are pictures showing progressive graphical degradation that starts after playing about 15-20 minutes (so definitely seems to be heat induced):

If I let it sit for a while and come back I can play another 15-20 minutes before the problem re-occurs. Could the two problems be related?
I am willing to supply additional pictures, quickly answer any questions, and perform any testing that I am able to do.
Thanks in advance for any help.
