Cave arcade kit boxes?

*warning, totally anal collector discussion up ahead*

how many different Cave boxes are there?

Cave/Atlus
Cave/Guwange
Cave/AMI PGM base
Cave/AMI "next gen" (ibara, mushi, espgaluda2 etc)
Cave/AMI Ibara black label (yeah theres a sticker on it

)

any others?

Jaleco (Uo Poko)
CPS2 Progear. According to zak, it's a standard CPS2 box... which I wouldn't mind having.

top one is espgaluda and bottom one is Ibara.

everything but the print seems to be a match tho.

loveley stuff zak, simply awesome. (shame about the writing on the ketsui box, whats it say anyway?)

tho you have an "oldstyle" box for both your mushime and Ibara, did you purchase them brand new?
there are clearly two different Cave/AMI boxtypes then, maybe they just use them at random?

My Ibara and Mushi have old style boxes. E2, Tama and IBL have the darker ones.

strange since my Ibara (purchased brand new from fujita) has the "new style" box..

also strange that mushimetama has the new one, wasent it released inbetween mushi and ibara?

B/c mint full kits (which includes the box) of any Cave games after ESPGaluda are incredibly hard to come by. I wouldn't write in magic maker on anything of mine that wasn't disposable... I don't know why others would. Just me.

It might have been the original owner, ie. the arcade owner who (presumably) was the first buyer of that kit. I can see your point if it was indeed anyone who has owned it as a collector since, though - even I can see that there's not much point buying something 'mint' for $$$$$$ and then making it rather un-mint via permanent marker

I've seen it more than once. Remember to most people these are BOXES, worthless pieces of cardboard, and if they have more than one AMI kit on the shelf why not write the title on?

Well, it don't look so bad if somebody leaves the plastic invoice holder intact. That's like my Osman kit, which was drop-shipped directly to me from Mitchell (yes, how cool is that, "From: Mitchell To: [me]")!

I got a full Ketsui kit last month. The box isn't mint, (has a damaged corner) but is way better than having magic marker written on it.

guess they are random.

i don't really understand collecting boxed pcb kits... surely, by their very nature, they shouldn't be seen as collectible.

It's just nice to have something that is complete. Sort of like buying mint condition second hand DC/PS2/whatever games, but bigger, more expensive and a lot harder to come by in tip-top shape. ^_-
