Rumor: New handheld for all Sega platforms in the works?

There's a rumor floating about that Sega is working on a new handheld that will be able to play games from all of their previous platforms from SMS to Dreamcast. I'll believe it when I see it, but for now file it under "wild speculation"...

A brilliant way for Sega to cash in on their fairly brilliant career. Hell, they could put a tiny bit of cash into a ramped up Nomad (one with a great, non-blur screen) and I'd bite. As you said, probably wild speculation, but this is one I'd probably be in line for at midnight to pick up.

Yeah, how exactly don't we know that this is just an April Fool's joke?

Too good to be true. I am pretty sure a device like that will only exist in my dreams. :(

If it was based on the PowerVR MBX series, it'd be more believable I think.

File it under BS. It was an April fools joke. A day early as the original French article was posted on March 31. Guess they couldn't wait a day to post this whopper or posted it a day early to cause confusion.

Fukkin hell, that rocks. Best handheld ever.

Imagine whipping that bad boy out at the airport, kids and their DS just couldn't compete with portable Ikaruga, Soul calibur and MSR. Batteries or power lead opperated though, that is the question.

You bet it rocks! Playing Border Down on an 8 hour roadtrip = priceless. That would definitely justify the $350.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Batteries apparently last about 90 minutes. Not great, but not awful considering what's involved.

I really am very seriously tempted to buy one.

Somebody should invent some super batteries that last double the normal batteries and can be recharged using sunlight. :D

Impressive... But I'd like to see him try to do a JAMMA handheld. And none of this MAME nonsense either, I want a full-fledged handheld that can play straight off the PCBs. Granted, you might attract unwanted attention from the authorities if you were ever inclined to take such a thing on the bus with you in the morning...

This is a confirmed April Fool's joke. Forgot where it originated though, but there's a link somewhere at Assembler.
