PS Vita 1000 Battery Replacement
PS Vita 1000 Battery Replacement
As expected the battery in my old Vita needs to be replaced. It doesn't seem like you can actually get genuine replacement batteries or any new-old-stock deals etc., so weird China battery it is. Any recommendations? Any sellers / brands that are particularly non-explody?

This Rowa Japan battery seems to get good reviews, but I'm not sure if you can get it outside of Japan without going through an escrow service: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01LEPUB2Q/
Re: PS Vita 1000 Battery Replacement
Thanks! I found something that at least looks like an original Sony but the seller cancelled on me, apparently they were out of stock :/ Ordered another one, let's see if that one ships. I wonder if it's even a good idea to try to get a new old stock battery, the fat Vita has been out of production for quite a while and maybe the original batteries are all old by now. Might make more sense to use something like what you linked, 1,580Y seems like a good price and shipping shouldn't be a problem with normal Japan Air, but no idea if they even ship here.

Depends on the battery's composition. I know some batteries get leaky or explodey due to the low air pressure and/or the low temperatures. I think lithium is okay, but I wouldn't be surprised if it needed to take a boat.ASDR wrote:...shipping shouldn't be a problem with normal Japan Air...

Oh, wasn't even thinking in those terms. Was just thinking with Japan Post Air it's going to be viable in terms of price when shipping stuff like a game card sized item.nmalinoski wrote:Depends on the battery's composition. I'll see how my supposedly genuine replacement battery fares. If it's not doing the job I'll see if I can source a decent looking replacement.
